When BGing last night I ran into several times when a Rogue would get me with his crippling poison and start unloading on me. I would do everything I could but couldn't get away from him. Then I thought about it as my health was dwindling away. (He was getting low too but I could never get him with alot of my harder shots. just a conc and an arc shot before he got back in range.

! The Wingclip/raptorstrike macro! hah. I'll spam the hell out of that while trying to get away. Sure enough I spammed that and he died. I said Sonofa... It worked!

So I kept that in mind and I killed 4 rogues in close combat because I couldn't escape their crippling hits.

I'm thinking of respecing back to 41/0/20 and getting a point or 2 in Imp Wingclip for this purpose and so I can get my get out of jail free card. the Infamous I Win button. =D

Hehe, nice tip.
Not only cause I rerolled as a hunter, but I also intend to do some BG's in the 20-29 bracket, might be useful there. :D

Stick it to 'em where it hurts - in the kidneys :)

Nice job getting back to ranged. You don't want to get stuck close up. But wingclip is a life-saver sometimes.

Reason it works is because wingclip has esentually no CD what so ever. and raptor strike is on next hit I believe.

macro looks like this

/cast wingclip
/cast raptor strike

I think mine said ranks and everything. But you can lay down alot more close range damage spamming that while trying to get away and put a nice debuff on them slowing them a bit. they will be like wtf when your spinning like crazy as they are attacking you.

It just helps cause instead of just using a few moves trying to get away. Give them everything you got while your trying to run. Besides if you die... well you didn't need that mana your trying to save for range attacks anyway so might as well go wild. =D

I agree...I use Wing Clip to level weapon skills that I haven't used for a while (spent a lot of time in Terrokar when I got my Terokk's Quill). I still find it funny when a clothie gets into melee range thinking he's got me beat and he eats an 1800 damage Raptor Strike before he crumples to the ground. That, and my N.Elf female looks friggin' cool with that jump swing deal >:D

I'm using that macro too, it's awsome.
I wonder though: If you reverse the order, Raptor before Wing clip, would it cause Raptor to go off on the next attack (Wing Clip)?

That would truly be awsome. Two fast pushes of a button would give instant damage + slow effect. I've gotta try it.

Oh, and I put a Mongoose Bite in the macro as well for good measure. It hardly ever goes off though...

just figured out something. My macro might be the other way. I got it from here a long time ago and I just read somewhere that its actually

/cast raptor strike
/cast wingclip

So sorry about the mixup. cause mine does cast both at the same time and they are saying this is the correct one. I guess try them both and find out what one works correctly. =S Anyway I know it works great =D

Raptor strike always first because it casts it on your next attack.
If its reversed it screws up for some reason i think.

I have Raptor Strike first in my macro, because whenever possible I want it active before my first normal melee swing is started. It's almost like psychological warfare...standard procedure against Hunters is to do whatever you can to shut down their ranged attacks. If you show someone that closing to melee range can still be extremely painful, the next time they think about closing the gap on a Hunter there might be just a moment of hesitation that can give you an edge.

Sorry, but can someone explain to me what this does? When I'm getting stun locked the rogue is behind me. How does this macro help? Not saying it doesn't, I'm just unclear on what this does. Thanks!

If you're not stun locked, but you have crippling poision on you (it slows your movement speed), and you can't get back to range, spamming that macro will slow the rogue down indefinitely, and you have a chance to do a big crit on the rogue.
#17 Dec 28 2007 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
if ur stunned it does nuthin but when ur runnin away u get a nice damage bonus from the raptorstrike on ur wingclip(especially if it crits) and the wingclip slows them down enuf to get away

simple macro and very effective

If/when you are forced to melee as a hunter you first priority is to get back to range. One of the ways to do this is to wingclip your opponent to slow him down so that you can outrun him. This macro puts wingclip and raptor strike on one button so that not only are you slowing him down but you are also doing some damage.

Edit: typed slower than 2 other people :-(

Wouldnt some kind of addition to the macro ( I dont know how to make macros so I'll just say my idea) like monkey aspect work? I mean if you are already in melee a +8% bonus to dodge would really help specially against a rogue, and its just 1.5 secs untill you can wingclip again, Im sure I have seen macros that do certain skill when its not already active or something like that.

No. Cause you would waste mana by turning it off and on over and over again.

counter attack or mongoose bite maybe. AotM... no. But then again I don't know anyone who would take counter attack.
