I have followed Aethiens Pre-kara guide for the most part when gearing up but I have run into a little problem or 2.

1.) I cannot find the pathfinders band in any AH for over a month. Starting to wonder if the damn thing exists on my server LOL.

2.) I looked at the cape I have and it seems to be on par with the blue capes that are in the pre raid guide.

Can I get some advice as to what I should do? I know I need to get more Hit. I am really low for some reason... I also need alot more AP which I will prolly get with enchanting but I don't have the funds to do so at the moment.

So I have been doing my daily pvps and a few other things to get some money. I just donated 400g to my friend so he could get his **** off that stupid slow black horse he had and get him riding his cool armored white one.

So is my cape good for now or should I try to get a different one.

(Also I know my meta gem is not for my class. I am using it to catch the ghost wolf. I hope to replace that helm soon with the Beast Lord helm or maybe even the PVP helm.

*sorry if I butchered your name Aethien.*

Well, the first thing you need to do is trim down that sig of yours so it doesn't cover a full post-length for other browsers. That gets real old, real fast when browsing down a thread.

Secondly, respecc if you want to raid past the first half of Karazhan.

Third: Just get your hitrating up to par.

Then you ought to be fine for the beginning of Karazhan and Heroics.

I would recommend getting a different meta gem.

That's all I'm going to say, nothing derogatory, just change the meta gem.

since you're low on hit rating, I suggest using Rune Engraved Belt, which is a quest reward from downing the last boss in Shattered. If you've already gotten it, and thrown it away... sorry =(. There are also a few quest reward rings that have +hit. I have one on right now called Slayer's Mark of the Redemption. I believe I got it from SMV. Your boots are MORE than worth putting a +12 agi enchant on them. Your cloak is okay. I'd say that if you have the 30g or so to enchant it with +12, do it and save up heroic badges for the Blood Knight War Cloak.

You also have a bunch of red gem slots. There is an orange gem that gives +4 hit and +8 ap (Or I think it's 3/6 if you get the cheaper one). Doing that gem in place of your +12 AP gems will naturally lower your AP, but adding that extra hit will more than make up for it, especially since you don't even have enough hit to never miss a level 70 mob.

There are a bunch of (quest) rings with 50AP, 15 agi and 10 hit.
Those will help your Ap greatly and also boost your hit.

And if you are aldor, the repring is one of the, if not the best pre-raid ring imo.

Oh, and ravenclaw band from sethekk halls last boss is pretty sweet too.
As well as he ring from the demon boss in botanica.

So no need to wait for the pathfinder to show on ah (Also because it'll most likely be stupidly overprized when its on now)

Thanks. I'll try to get that band in Sethekk Halls. I don't think I can get the belt anymore. Still working on replacing my helm.

The BeastLord one looks like a better helm for me. Hopefully I can get that helm to drop. The Meta Gem Proc on this is nice for taming them hard to get pets so i was thinking about keeping it just for that perpose as a sit in the bank and rot kind of gear.

I got my boots 2 days ago. What a nice X-Mas gift =D Definately gonna throw an agility Chant on it. Guess I am a bit lazy with the money grind. Though I am kind of stretching my time over at least 10 toons.

I was kind of just looking to see where I was. What I should try to replace and what was acceptable. Looks like Sethekk Halls has 3 drops I am looking for so that looks like the place to start.

Thanks

Your gear looks adequate for Kara that is for sure. Definately try and get the Ravenclaw Band as it adds a good amount of hit rating. Also the cape from the little Goblin and his trampoline quest in Nagrand gives great hit. I used that for quite a while (had to turn off cape animation though because it looks horrible).
Are you running heroics? There is a fairly cheap headpiece for honor badges. The newly added gear is better then most Kara gear in my opinion. A lot of the rogue gear for honor badges adds good hit rating as well. Honor badge items are pretty awesome considering one run a day and a full Kara will get you some great stuff.

unfortunately I already recieved a reward for that quest and either I took the cape and ditched it in lue of the one I got from another quest in Nagrand or I got a different quest reward for either gold or I actually wore it for a while. Not sure atm. I'll have to look at what the quest offered.

I guess it is time to start ditching the cheap red gems for the orange +hit and +AP. I can do that. I think I got enough to switch a few gems here and there. Meta gem is gonna have to wait. I'm a little short on 200g for the gem.

I know that there've been a lot of "Am I ready for Kara?" posts lately, so I'll just insert my request here instead of starting a new thread, specifically because I have questions about hit rating as well.

My sig below shows my current gear situation. Not too bad, I don't think. Got the Aldor inscription on my shoulders and going to apply the Clefthide Leg Armor to legs as soon as I get it crafted.

With regard to hit rating, I know mine is probably a little low, since I've been gearing up for +agi to try and get the most out of EW. However, I do have some +hit gear in the bank, specifically the Rune Engraved Belt and the Green Poncho. Should I be using these instead?

Also, I have the mats for +35 agi to a 2h weapon. Been trying to get Sonic Spear but it's been tough times getting groups for it and when I do, it doesn't drop. Should I just do it to my Terokk's Quill? I do have the Warsong Howling axe in the bank... nice stamina and AP on it; would it be worth putting the +35 agi on that instead?

I know I still have some enchants that I need to get and I'd working on the Gladiator's Chain Helm and Gauntlets. I also have the mats for the Thick Netherscale Breastplate, I just need to find someone who can craft it for me and not rape me out of gold because of the Primal Nether.

The reason I even ask this is because I'm supposedly going to be invited to a Kara group next week. Some members have left my current guild because of it's lack of focus on raiding (there is none going on at all), and it's these members that are planning on inviting me. I'd like to make sure I won't be a weak link since it might get me an invite to their guild.

Thank you all!

EDIT:
Bah! Seems the armory isn't working right at the moment. I hope some of the questions can still be answered.

Cheap(ish) upgrades:
Your cape is good enough to enchant with +12 agility. (~35g)
Your shoulders are also good enough to throw at least a +6 agi and a +6 hit gem in. (4-6g or so)
Chest is also not bad, so a +6 stats enchant wouldnt be bad. (40g?)
+24 AP on gloves is a nessecety (and only like 10g...)
A cheap agility (+7) on your boots will help you a lot too. (maybe 10g or so?)
So for about 100g you can get 31 agility (0.75% crit), 6 hit, 6 sta, 6 int and 24 AP (55 counting agi).

Note: i dont know prices out of the top of my head so they can be off a bit.
Because the last enchants i paid for instead of having all the stuff for myself is a loooong time ago (i <3 getting all worthless greens and LW crafting blues D/E'd).

Expensive upgrades: replace that helmet if you can (beastlord or Steamvaults quest helm are the best options) because a meta gem is good.
And a helm enchant makes a big difference, although both changes are pricey (meta gem ~140g and helm enchant = CE revered and 90g) but totally worth it imo.

If you cant get Sonic, try the HH revered spear. It gives loads of AP and is worth enchanting +35 agi on a lot more then the Quill imo.
Best option is probably to get yourself an arena team (preferably 5v5 and a bad one isnt much of a problem) to get yourself 1k arena points and a sick 2H axe that gets close to Legacy but that'll take 4-5 weeks of playing.

Some new boots from Heroic Botanica would be a huge improvement and Gloves from Heroic mech are awesome too, and both heroics arent very hard.
Although thats more of a long term upgrade to work towards (or 1 day if you're very very lucky ;P) those gloves are also worth +15 agi on them.
And last but not least try running BM for the Hourglass, with a decent group its doable in 20-25 minutes so running it a couple of times back to back is an option with a good group.

You're only 895 rep away from the first of the Violet Eye quest reward rings, which will pretty much close the Hit Rating gap for you.

As a SV Hunter using the Quill is not a bad option. Both the Sonic Spear and the Honor Hold polearm offer some Hit Rating and more general DPS overall, but less AGI. If your Violet Eye rep will be very slow to come, you might just plug away at getting one of these two weapons for your +35 AGI enchant.

Working on your CE reputation will give you access to the Glyph of Ferocity, for a nice AP boost and 16 Hit Rating.

There are two quest reward rings which offer 10 HR, 15 AGI, and 50 AP.

Since you are only 2.2% away from being hitcapped (6% for you because of surefooted) you only need (2.2x16=) 35.2 hitrating.
The helm enchant (preferably on BL or Earthwarden) +16 hit, +34 ap.
And the hellforged halbert (HH revered) gives 19 hitrating.
Those combined will give 35 of those 35.2 leaving a gap of only 0.0125% on bosses.

And i dont thing you'd mind missing ~1 out of every 10.000 shots ;)

edit: just checked your rep and it would require you to do quite a few SV and ramparts runs but its something you should definately aim for imo.

Thanks Aethien. Oh I found that Pathfinders band... Yeah not worth 140g in my book. Decided the ring in Sethekk halls is way better and will be going for that for part of my 35.6 hit. Also am grinding rep with CE for that head enchant.

Still can't get that stupid spear to drop again. Gurrr! I almost want to choke the other guy I brought to SL the first time I made it all the way through. ******* rolled on my spear and got it...

anyway. Oh well.

So, thank you all for the advice so far. I just have a couple more questions.

Right now, I'm wearing the Breastplate of Rapid Striking, but I have the mats for and am considering getting the Thick Netherscale Breastplate.

At first glance, it seemes an obvious upgrade. +36 sta, +5 int, +30 ap. However, I'm wondering if giving up the +20 hit rating is worth it for this piece?

What do you guys think?

EDIT:
My armory hasn't updated yet, but I've gotten the cloak and glove enchants, and have purchased some +8 agi gems. I've also been lucky enough to acquire the Hourglass, yay!

No, you'd lose too much hit rating.

Hit rating isnt all that hard to get, and trading 4 agi and 20 hit for 36 sta, 5 int and 30 AP doesnt look all that bad to me...
although not very good either especially considering the cost...
