Since I'm healing raids now, I want to be the very best I can so I help the group as much as possible. So I'm now looking at flasks and considering which would be more beneficial.

What I'm considering is the choice between the Flask of Distilled Wisdom which gives +65 int and the Flask of Mighty Restoration for +25 mp5.

Any recommendations and reasons why?

For reference, my stats are +1351 healing, 21.89% (holy) crit and +73mp5 unbuffed.

Overall, Mighty Restoration is the better flask(Distilled gives 1080 mana after talents before kings...Mighty Restoration takes just shy of 4 minutes to give that much, and most raid fights last longer than that). That said, I tend to use whichever I happen to have. And Distilled Wisdom is a ton cheaper.

Also, your mp5 seems kinda low to me, so I'd go with Mighty Restoration. However, I feel maximum benefit will come from combining elixirs instead of using flasks. These, to be precise:

But that can get expensive on learning nights.

Flask of Mighty Resto is par for the course.

Stacking Elixirs when you know you arent going to be wiping tends to work as well. Healing and Wisdom or whatever floats your boat.

Mana oil is great, the old world recipe is a little more because it costs black lotus.

Food there are a couple fish options that help +healing and stam or +healing spirit etc.

Crank all of that and you will completely floor any healer in your raid not using them. Amazing how much healing you can put out.

Actually, it's just purple lotus. The expensive part is the fact that 2 LBS cost more than 3 arcane dusts.

I recommend the consumables I have been using for the better part of a year.

Superior Mana Oil (its super cheap to make and its better to have something you can have lots of than having more expensive oil you're hesitant to use)

Blackened Sporefish (20 stam, 8mp5, really really easy to fish. You can start getting these just above 300 fishing)

Flask of Mighty Restoration (while elixirs give you an overall better bonus, if you wipe a lot, flasks save you tons of gold, which is why I use it)

Thanks for the recommendations, they're much appreciated. Rate-ups for all.

I already have the Blackened Sporefish and Golden Fishsticks recipes and, from the daily cooking quests, have had enough fish to last through each Kara run. Deciding which to use has been a toss-up really.

I've encountered mana oil before and I can't think why I'm not using it. I'll definitely add that to the list of necessary preparations.

Unfortunately my guild aren't good (or experienced) enough not to wipe. Last week we wiped once on Wizard of Oz and twice on Curator. Last night we even wiped on trash so I think I'll stick to flasks for the moment. However, I'll consider elixirs when we get better.

With us, we had a two night thing going when we were learning. It was one night of farm content and one night of learning/harder content. When you reach that point, it's a good time to switch.

I farm the shards anyway, and I can make the oil. So I just funnel a couple shards per farming session into oils for my mage and my paladin(I can make 2-3 weeks worth of oil in an hour if I'm strictly farming for that). But I can see your point for people who don't have easy access to the stuff.
