Could someone please tell me what my avoidance is? http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Norgannon&n=Mikeman

I'm not sure how to add it up, im guessing it is one of the 2

44.13 + 30 for HS = 74.13

the other is really low, so hoping that isn't it.

I'm talking from complete memory, so don't quote me, but it is shield block + dodge + parry which, including holy shield, should add up to 102.3% That makes you uncrushable versus level 72 or 73 mobs, whichever it is, and ready to tank kara.

I got 79.13% for you. 5.16% from def, plus 5% for mobs chance to miss. Then add up dodge, block, parry, and holy shield. So, 5 +5.16 +11.16 +10.29 +17.52 +30 = 79.13.

Make it easy on yourself. Copy and paste this into a macro:

/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Need 102.4 combined avoidance. Currently at:",0.8,0.8,1)
/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(GetDodgeChance()+GetBlockChance() + GetParryChance() +5+(GetCombatRatingBonus(CR_DEFENSE_SKILL) + 20)*0.04,1,0.5,0)

Then, make sure you have holy shield up, and run the macro. You'll get a system message in the chat frame telling you what your total avoidance is.

Cool i did figure it correctly then, when i made the post i didn't have deflection, now it is maxed so i see were the extra 5 comes from.

When i use the macro with holy shield up it says 84.13, so i need about 18 more hopefully i can get that with a few more items i am looking for.

thanks for the help and macro.

When you did it before the respec it was the 5% from the mobs chance to miss that wasn’t factored in. With that plus the respec it added 10% total. You really only need to 102.4% for enemies that are lvl73 (like the ones found in kara) because the enemy needs to be lvl73 to deal a crushing blow. The avoidance is still well worth it for heroics to help mitigate damage but heroic mobs aren’t lvl73.

I like that macro, very convenient. :)

I have been using that macro, but I also have a mod called TankPoints which tells you your avoidance stats, your chance to be hit, crit, all that stuff, AND you can add various values (or subtract) to see where you'd be at with a particular piece of gear, enchant, whatever. Great addon for any tank.

EDIT: typo :)

It's a good add-on because it includes a calculator that can do avoidance and stam calculations for you, however the mod always values Stam FAR higher than any avoidance stats. This means it will often kick out green "of stamina" pieces as the best choice for tanking, even if you're sitting at crittable and crushable.

That's true, so I never use it for the actual "points" values or anything, just the calculations. It also is obviously tailored for Warriors making the point values close to meaningless for Tankadins (doesn't take into account spell damage, Int, etc..).
