Well, after grinding AV at 69 for enough honor for the Gladiator's War Staff, (because I'd feel like a loser being level 70 without an epic, or a PvP item. =D) I bought it and then I hit 70 (hell yeah!) and grinded S'more AV since it's AV weekend, and so I was thinking, which Armor piece(s) to go after next? I'm planning on getting full S1 gladiator's before starting Arena with my rogue friend (who thinks S1 gear sucks.) He's also a JC, and is trying to get the MSD plans so I can buy one from him (since the helm has a meta socket.) But I don't think he'll get that for a while, so I was thinking I'd get the gloves first (since they cost the least honor, and have that fire blast +range, which I like) then the shoulders, since they're the second cheapest. What'cha guys think? Should I knock out the pieces that cost the most honor first? Or get those last? Also, what should I socket my stuff with? I'm a newb when it comes to socketing... Thanks, input is appreciated.

Socket choices are kind of personal, but I think most top PVP mages gem for pure spell damage. But they're different, they have all the gear, so they're getting enough stam/resilience/crit from gear alone. When you're starting out you have low everything....but I still gem for pure dmg on my mage. Only exception is a single purple gem with stam/dmg, to satisfy the meta requirement for MSD.

Which pieces to buy? Up to you really. I'd get the more of the gladiator pieces last to be honest, some of those will get replaced through arena. Off set pieces won't get replaced, and they are very good too (vindicators silk boots, bracers, belt).

Also my 0.02...just hop in and start arena now. Do the best you can, and play alot while getting used to arena....but start now. You'll accumulate points every week which is important, even if its just a small amount of points.
