Unfortunately no. Your resilience is way to low. I also see you have 5 points in impact. I tried that, but I went back to Improved Cone of Cold quickly. You will find yourself in alot of situations where Cone of Cold is incredibly useful, even more so because it's instant cast. That extra damage can be enough to finish someone off. Also, you should use Ice Armor instead of Molten. The 75 dmg isn't much and the chance to slow an attacker is much more beneficial.

My advice is to run BG's over and over again and get the season 1 arena gear you can purchase with honor points.

I'd say don't worry about gems for now. Your going to get new gear anyway and the gems you have on your gladiator gear are fine.

Alterac Valley Weekend ends today so get as much AV BG as you can.

Play arena while getting honor gear, no loss, just gain, free points.
You won't be successful till you hit about 300+ res, 600-800 spelldamage, and 9-10k hp. Depending on setup ofc, you hardly need res in 5v5 unless people see you're badly geared in most setups. But in 2s and 3s you'll get lots and lots of damage, so you'll need the mitigation.

I think people are ready to play Arena when they want to. Playing Arena and doing BGs to get Honor rewards >>> just play BGs. When you think your equips are fine and that you can play in a "serious team" just disband the team and make another if yours has less than 1500 rating.

Also, that´s not just equips...every new Arena team lack on the synchronism between the players. Besides the equips, you have to learn to play with your partners too (I mean...know what he will do and how much he can do).

I'll partly agree with this, the 75 damage isn't much, but the main benefit of using Molten armor seems to be the +3% crit and 5% less chance to be crit.

Edited for accuracy.

Well 200 resilience would also reduce crit damage on you by 10%, so thats only a small piece of the resilience factor. Now resilience also lowers periodic damage too (DoTs).

So molten armor =/= resilience.

True, I didn't think about that aspect when posting. Even still I think the benefit of Molten outweighs that of Ice unless facing an all melee team.

I'm a big fan of tailoring my armor usage to my spec if I decide to go PvP. If I were a frost mage with full points in Frostbite, then Ice Armor all the way. If I'm a fire mage with 5/5 Impact, then I might be inclined to go with Molten Armor.

If my spec doesn't benefit my armor at all, though, then I'd probably still go with Ice Armor.

Thank you every one :)I usually use molten armor because
My resil is low.
The enoyance factor to rogues.
3% crit.

But mostly its the rogue thing :P
And hey i can still get an impact proc from fire blast and/or scorch when im oom.

Thank you every one for the descussion :)

I always use Ice Armor in PVP, it can proc frostbite and freeze melee players in place allowing you to get distance and start kiting.

edit - I also play a rogue, and believe me getting chilled + frozen in place for 5 seconds is much more annoying then a 2 second stun. Ice armor also slows attack speed by 25%, almost cancelling out the effect of a slice n' dice finisher.

70 levels of playing a mage and somehow I didn't realize it slowed attack speed as well as movement. I may have to reconsider my spec and go Ice armor. Guess you DO learn something everyday.

The reduction on the melee attack speed isn´t really noticeable for us, that are kiting, but anyway...it´s on the tooltip...let´s believe. =D (and I'm not a melee dmg dealer to know how much does it implies on my dmg output...but it might be annoying...heh).

The Impact proc won´t let you take some distance to kite, Ice Armor does (at least it usualy does). The +crit and crit protection might be good, but I don´t really think it´s enogh to surpass the utility from Ice Armor.

grab your friends and form a team.

go play 10 games a week (we formed a 5v5 recently going with 4dps setup, ended the week with 2-8 record lol)

the rest of the time that you are not farming/questing/raiding go and do BGs.

Recommended honor earning rate should be around 1.5k to 2k per day if you are not into grinding AV everyday every hour. If you do go that route you can get like 1 piece of S1 per day, assuming you do enough ABs.

important enchants.
Boar's speed to boots (this one is vital, sure arenas are small but every bit of movement speed counts)

shoulder and head enchants. You can bet that any seasoned player will have their helms and shoulders enchanted with the rep enchants. If you have to pug for em, pug for em.

Meh my plan is to do some arena with crap score, after all something is better then nothing, get gloves because they are the cheapest from s2/s3 and while free doing bgs, also yeah I do preffer ice now, I just got out of the habit. Also to any one who checks after this im keeping the 5 in fire because im skint at the moment and the advantage wouldnt be that knowticable.

Thank you for great advice every one, much apreciated.

I use molten armor in 5v5, as I don't get focused much. Being able to stall a melee without costing healers much mana is too awesome not to do though.
However, if your opponent has blessing of freedom, molten armor + stun is cool tool.

I choose the armor situationally really.

In AV I will often go with molten armor because I'm not seeing a lot of melee action typically, I am standing back and casting, or casting from the top of hills or other terrain, and I like the +3% crit. If I am in AB or someplace where I am more like to be forced into close combat, I'll go with ice armor for the slowing effect. I don't play arenas.

Idd, take what you need basically, usually arena matches don't start quick enough that you're not able to swtich armors and drink either way, so if you see a full caster team, you can just switch.

In 5v5 it matters even less because of the billions of dispells on the focus target, I use rank 1 frost armor there (60~ mana).

Just to clear things up - you don't wanna use ice armor in an arena - NEVER! (or well, almost never). Go with molten armor instead, as mentioned above, 3%crit and 5% less chance to be crit is pure win, but more importantly, do it because of DRs on frostbite! You are much better off using rank 1 CoC and proccing frostbite from that or your frostbolts than having your frostbite procc off you armor which you can't control in the slightest way (and typically it proccs just as you use FN which is a wasted CD AND a wasted DR.

Can second the idea of using molten armour in arenas - it also hits your attacker on every hit (not a lot but its there) plus the crit chance. I did arenas a bit, sucked as I was in frozen shadoweave with 0 resilence (btw don't try this - its the closest I been to being headshot since fighting lv 10 murlocs back when I started the game)

Since getting some resilience from the S1 gear I no longer die to one rogue. It now takes me two rogues.
