help me with my gear - RAIDINGFollow

#1 Dec 22 2007 at 7:20 AM Rating: Decent
firstly my armory link - silvastrider

gearing up for KARA now.

the things im gonna replace are : shoulders - with towering mantle of the hunt
chest - with laughing skull battle harness
bracers - with auchenai bracers

the things i MAY replace are: bow - with skyfire hawk bow
leggings - with sunfury legguards OR greaves of
desolation

i would probably use most of the enchants in the pre raid guide.
i would like to know at the end of it all, would my gear be more bm/mm based or surv based.

Also would like to know if im doing anything wrong.
lol also i think my AP sux, think it would work out after gearing up with enchants?
LASTLY, i would like to know relatively how much the enchants would cost in all.
just give me a figure

Thank you, help appreaciated!

You're on the right track.

Gems and enchants. Gems and enchants. EVERYTHING gemmed and enchanted. That will be your biggest upgrade. A scope on the bow as well (unless you get that hard to get drop, or buy a Valanos).

I cry just a little when I see a Sonic Spear or Terrok's Quill that doesn't so much as have savagery on it, much less +35 agi. ;-)

You're set on leggings, so go get a Cobrahide leg armor patch for them (unless you know a genorous LW who will craft nethercobra for you).

I prefer the Beast Lord Shoulders for the trap cooldown with your leggings. But whichever shoulders you get first will do. (You'll want that cooldown reduction for fights like Moroes). Similarly, don't just focus on Laughing Skull, but try for the Beast Lord chestpiece as well (although odds are the LSBH will drop first).

I'm not a big fan of your Ogre Slayer band. I would upgrade that the first chance you get.

Your helm is "ok," but you could afford to upgrade it. I'd go for the quest chain to get the Stalkers Helm of Second Sight (and damn the socket bonus, put 3 +AP gems in it), or run Mech for the Beast Lord helm. Once you get your helm settled, grab the Glyph of Ferocity for it from CE.

Look at the pre-raid checklist sticky for a list of enchants you will want (including the Aldor/Scryer shoulder enchants, etc)

You're not too far off. Good luck.

Edited to add: As to your question about overall enchant/gem prices... That's so subjective. It really depends on your server, and even faction. I couldn't hazard a guess really. Some enchants will be relatively cheap, many won't be.

I wouldn't bother buying Blue quality gems for pre-karazhan gear. The difference between them isn't all that great, but the overall prices for them vary so greatly it's retarded. For less than five gold, you get a Green quality gem that will do the job nicely, while the around fifty gold Blue quality gem will get you around 20% more stats on the gem.

Save that gold to spend on gemming your epics. Keep the gold for a +35 enchant in your bank, and rather pay for a Savagery enchant which should be alot cheaper. The +35 enchant can be put on Legacy when that drops, or on any other melee weapon you deem worthy, like Trollbane from Zul'Aman. (Don't expect to see that until you are at least Gruul geared.)

Alot of people say you need the most expensive enchants, most expensive gems, and most expensive crafted gear/heroic gear to be Karazhan ready. That's just crap. Make sure you have decent +hit, full up on gems (as I said, don't waste money on Blue gems, they don't add that much stats since you will be getting alot of Karazhan gear soon enough) and the most vital enchants like Attack Power on Bracers and Gloves. They are also quite cheap. Get the faction shoulder enchant as well, which should be easily gotten while just leveling to seventy.

While you are thinking about gear, have you considered just getting the full Felstalker kit? You are already skinning/leatherworker, so it's not that much work getting up to that level of LW. Getting up to Ebon Netherscale is a bit more work, but it can be done somewhat easily. The Thick Clefthoof armor set for Druids can be mats-farmed in about an hour, and with Primal Earth being the cheapest Primals on the AH you can skill up on that quite easily. Best part? They sell like hell to the aspiring Druid tanks.
