How Much am I missing NOT DWing?Follow

Greetings,

Well what can I say, I have always loved gigantic 2h weapons!

I am a 63 Enhancement Shammy with 43 points in Enhancement and the rest in Resto and I love my 2h weapons.

Is there a huge difference between the 2?

I am not a social shammy and I dont run alot of instances nor do I plan to raid much. I just came back to the game after a 10 month break and I am finding myself lost.

Can I get by with 2h forever? I am skinning/mining and I was thinking about going smithing/Axesmithing to make some of the cool epic axes but I am at a crossroads.

Do I DW permanently or do I keep up with the 2h that I like so much.

Yes yes, PVE = DW and PVP = 2h but I just really enjoy the huge axes.

Well,I'm not really the shammy expert..:D

But I can tell you that my DPS almost doubled once I switched to dualwielding

That is with the decreased hitrate included :D

So basically I think you are missing out on alot of dps ;)

But if you are getting by,having fun and aren't worried about being the "uber- king-of-the-damage-meters" ,then I'd say you arent missing a thing :D

edit:stopped the invasion of the typos..o.O

If that's what you want to do, then that's what you should do. Just be willing to accept the fact that your overall DPS will be lower.

Based on these three lines, I can tell you that keeping your 2-hander is fine.

If you go into later raiding, Dual-Wield is vastly superior for Weapon Speed -> Crit -> Flurry -> +Weapon Speed -> Crit -> Flurry -> etc, as well as double Windfury proc chance, as well as scaling up with AP better.

However, you'll do plenty of damage in your own right with the 2-Hander. If you're not raid geared, and don't need to keep up Unleashed Rage for a group often, using a two-hander for the aesthetic purpose is fine. :)

Dual-wielding shines much better if you're raid-geared and raid-buffed. The difference between DW and 2H is much smaller if you're not big on that endgame stuff.

Yeah I kinda see that,

I just spent a boatload on 2 really good 2.6 delay axes and respec-ing to include DW and honestly for my purposes its Steady DMG stream vs 2-3 big hits for the kill.

I capped out my axe skill and tested DW vs 2h on Talbuk Stags, 1 lvl higher than me...it actually took me longer to kill the stag with DW O.o!

Your call for sure. I always say, just do what makes you happy. I play enhancment Shammy and as a Duel wielder I love it. You can buff each weapon like Wind and Ice or Flame and the dps is awesome. maybe it's me, I think it's substantial. I also use weapons with a enchantment to proc and it just gets sicker. Sadly, I must say I don't really know any different I refuse to play elemental or resto until I go to end game stuff. I prefer BG's atm. Instances are for people with a lot more time on their hands than me. :)

How many did you kill? If you have WF and they don't proc, of course its going to take longer. My friend is an enhance shaman and he rapes people as d/w. If you don't have the hit rating for d/w its gonna suck. Don't give up because you couldn't kill a talbuk lol.
