Happy Holidays to all my fellow druids. This off-topic post will mostly (if not only) be of interest for the regulars. Maybe not even them, now that I think of it. :) Basically, I think it'd be interesting to find out who y'all are.

I've been curious, and thought of this as a thread when I copped to being 35 in another thread and RareBeast said "me too!" If this is a lame idea just move along, don't bother flaming me unless you make it funny, because I won't care. Anybody's welcome to post of course, but I'm really hoping the "regulars" pony up some basic info. You know who you are.

I'll start it off by putting myself out there. Can't wait to see if this floats...
"My name is Greg, I'm 35 years old, I do have a life thank you very much, and I'm a WoW-aholic."

Personal: I live in San Jose, California with my wife and two boys, ages 3 and 4.
Work: I'm the head of marketing communications and creative services for a mid-sized enterprise software company called TIBCO.
Gaming: WoW is the first video game I've played since I was a kid, really, and the only game I play currently. I like that it's so much more than just shoot 'em up.
Other Interests: I play rec-league volleyball as many times a week as I can get hall passes for...usually just one night per season. : /

And you are...?

12/31 Edit: Rock ON! I had no idea this'd be such a popular thread. Thanks to all the regulars and irregulars for posting. I'm really glad my assumption/asserion that this would be of interest "mostly if not only to the regulars" didn't keep all you "irregulars" : ) from posting. It's really interesting seeing snippets of info about all kinds of players. Thanks for playing along, everybody, and happy new year! Be safe out there.

Fun thread! I dunno how much I count as a regular. Nobody shouts "Norm!" when I post or anything. But I see you've gotten no responses so far, so I'll play. Copying your template:

Personal: I'm 36, live in the South, married, 1 kid age small, 1 most excellent beagle.
Work: Freelance writer, stay-at-home mom, unpublished novelist, baker of cookies, eater of cookies.
Gaming: I don't play console games cause they give me a headache, so nothing since my Mudding days way back when. My husband got me addicted to WoW so I wouldn't yell at him for playing too much. Oh, but I play lots of solitaire when I'm supposed to be working.
Other Interests: Reading, writing, cooking, taking walks with my family (beagle included), I have a blog I post to occasionally here but I don't blog as much as I used to since... well since WoW.

Merry feast of the Winter Veil to one and all. :)

"NORM!!!"

Thanks for playing, Cake! You certainly count (I say that trying not to introduce the impression that I or anyone else will judge anyone else's regularness...everybody please post away if ya feel like it!) and I was hoping to learn a bit more about you since I'm a fellow writer. (albeit strictly in a marketing capacity...)

Love your blog, by the way. Cracked up a handful of times in the handful of most recent posts. Sorry to hear about your tree--those aphids sound nasty. You'll be happy to know that while I don't know words to songs very well I'm not a hummer...I'm more apt to make up my own as I go along and airdrum til the cows come home, though. I hope that lets me keep my piehole open. : )

Cheers.

I'll shaddup now lest I set the expectation that I'll commentate on every single person's post.

Good thread, rate-ups to all :D

Personal: I just turned 22 three days ago (yay me!), I go to college in Delaware, but am in FL with my parents until Christmas, then MA for my friends until after New Years.
Work: I'm in my senior year, and will graduate in the spring with a BS in Business Management, minor in Spanish language. Yes, I am bilingual, and no, I am not Hispanic :-P
Gaming: I have played WoW for three years; I joined up almost three years ago exactly (got it, oh, January?). I've been on Allakhazam for around 4-5 years, since FFXI. I only have a PS2, no next-gen consoles.
Other Interests: Political activism, propagating my religion (Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster), volunteer work, residence life at UD, reading, acting, singing, Guitar Hero, and Dance Dance Revolution :-P

I'm no regular but hey, why not?

Personal: I'm a wee lad of 17 (a youngin' 'round here it seems). I live in a small town in Northern California called Healdsburg.
Work: Still in high school, just a few more months here. I also privately tutor for math, physics, and computer science. I take school pretty seriously (not to brag or anything but *cough* class ranked number 1 *cough*), and I plan to major in Computer Science next year.
Gaming: I was originally a console gamer but I've moved mostly to the computer. I'll play Halo 3 if my friends can drag me away but WoW is my drug of choice.
Other Interests: I'm a geek through and through and spend a lot of my non-WoW time reading geeky stuff. My latest interests have been the mathematics for programming 3D rendering engines, pretty interesting stuff.

i am quor, He Who Makes Others Quake In Fear.

but you can call me ralph. im 26, live in southern california (specifically the san fernando valley) and am applying to the educational psychology department of Cal State Northridge for fall '08 semester in marriage and family therapy.

my work is quite minimal atm, as i just started at a new place, but basically i work with autistic kids to help them learn proper social skills and build a circle of friends (aka peer network).

i live with my dad and stepmom, because housing costs in los angeles are f*cking expensive and id like to finish off my masters before i consider moving out in earnest.

for gaming, i do a lot. lots of pc games, lots of console games (including xbox 360 and wii). i dont exercise much, but thankfully i have a rather ungodly metabolism, so the walking i do around the college campus usually suffices. i also play the drums, which isnt really an exercise in and of itself until you realize that i dont play the drums so much as i beat them to within an inch of their life. i go thru a pair of drumsticks every three months on average :(

Personal: I'm 18 years old, named Troels. I'm living in Denmark just outside of Copenhagen. Just finished high school (or gymnasium as it's called in DK) where I had better time than now to play. At the moment I'm studying medicin and in (hopefully) 5½ years I'll be finished :) This means that I've got little time to play wow as I'm taking school very serious - I'm a fighter and a most ambitious one - straight A or not good enough!
Gaming: I'm playing wow or FPS. When playing wow I mostly (read only) pvp as pre-TBC I got tired of fighting AI where the fights differ very little from time to time.
Other Interests: I'm playing badminton twice a week, 3 hours each time + tournaments in weekends from time to time. I also play guitar, but nothing serious , just something I practice on in my sparetime and then once a week my teacher slabs me for not being good enough - hehe.

Hmm. Even though I am more of a Hunter regular, I do frequent these boards as well quite often when looking for information about my Druid. Should be enough to count myself one of the regulars in here as well.

Personal: I am 25 years old, and I live in Northern Norway, better known as the Frozen North. No real love life going on, mostly just casual relationships. Fortunately no kids either, since my life isn't anywhere organized enough to take care of more than my dog, Revan.
Work: Used to be the head of an Emergency Response Team on an island completely owned by an oil company, being turned into one single giant Liquid Natural Gas processing plant. Since they couldn't rely on public services when it came to Fire and Ambulance services, they made their own service. So basically I was the Firechief, and Ambulance chief on that island. Currently, I am negotiating a position that might land me as the head of the single biggest Emergency Response Team in Europe.
Gaming: Well, I've been a PC gamer since I first got my Commodore 64. Since then, I've been playing every single genre released on computers. I've excelled at First Person Shooters, and was ranked within the top twenty in Europe at Quake III Arena two years in a row. Since then, real life has been too busy for me to focus on competition gaming. So, MMO's have proven to be more for me. Even though they take alot of time, they don't require me to give up on my real life.
Other Interests: I built my own 4Runner after Arctic Truck standards, so I guess I can be said to be interested in big cars. Other than that, I am a dog person and a hunter. In that regard, Northern Norway is heaven. I jump in my 4x4 with my dog, and it takes me about 30 minutes to get to places where no signs of human life can disturb the peace. That's my favorite moments. Just turning off the phone, and just have fun with my dog. No disturbances at all. Oh! I am also passionately fond of getting drunk out of my skull. For that purpose, whiskey is unmatched.

Merry Christmas everybody, and a great New Years Eve to everyone.

Pffft. Yes, this is a paltry application of the word "writer" in comparison to my glamorous work in training materials and software manuals. I've won several National Book Awards in the category of The Manual Your Idiot Customer Will Never Read Before Calling Your Tech Support.

I'm totally starting a rumor that everything else Quor wrote was a cover and he's actually Stewart Copeland. Please do your best to propagate this.

Hmm here it goes.

Personal: 34, Happily married to my wife of 17 years. (yes thats right ive been married half my life already!) Have 1 boy, 17, (and no, my wife and I knew we were gonna get married when we were still in Jr High). I live in the Mountains, 4 miles south of Canada. Interesting note: Its exactly 40 miles from my door to the nearest Wal-mart.

Work: I am a website consultant, and mainly work at home.

Other Games: Played Astonia 3 for 6 years, before that console games.

Interests: My wife, boy, and fishing-fishing-fishing! Tho maybe not quite in that order! (j/k)

Happy Holidays (if its holidays where you are) and G-night!
#14 Dec 22 2007 at 9:50 PM Rating: Good
Personal: I'm 25, In Portland Oregon, though I'm still a New Mexican at heart. There is more to salsa than "hot, and more hot", and I shall continue to sneer at restaurants that think otherwise. The day I stop is the day I'll change my driver's license.
Work: Nothing right now though I need to fix that. I had a bit of a breakdown a few years ago from (at the time) undiagnosed depression, so I've been rebooting from that. That's been enough work in itself.
Gaming: WoW has been my main social game, as it's been easy to be around folks or not as my mood suits. I also enjoy Wii and DS games. Lately Guitar Hero 3 and Mario Galaxy in particular, though I'm a sucker for anything creative (why I picked the Wii and DS for their potential).
Other Interests: Trying to find a good game of chess up here, Go seems to be the game of choice in the area for intellectuals. Other than that I spend my time reading or gaming, and I'm considering taking up photography again.

I'm no longer a Druid Forum regular, but I used to be and I'm still pretty active on the site in general, so I'll chip in (though most of the regulars I knew aren't regulars here anymore either - so many new faces).

Hi, everybody. My name is Peter and...

Personal: I'm 22 years old. I live on Zealand, the largest island in the Kingdom of Denmark. For the non-Europeans, it's a small country north of Germany and south of Sweden. Shakespeare's Hamlet, pastry, LEGO, etc.

Work: Currently work as a cashier in a supermarket chain called SuperBest. It's boring as hell, but I've been working on/off for seven years now, so I'm one of the only ones who've been there since the beginning. Kinda makes me unofficial king of the store, because I know how things are supposed to be.

Gaming: I've been playing computer games since I was eight or nine years old. Before that I used to stay up late with my dad while we played the first version of Silent Hunter. Man, I loved those late nights (late by child's perspective, I went to bed around midnight on those special days).

MMORPG-wise I'm an ex-Star Wars Galaxies player. Left the game after my cousin more or less forced me to try out the beta for World of Warcraft and I never looked back. Been playing the game ever since the open beta, with a three- or four-month break when I left for the military.

Other Interests: Along with computer games, music and movies complete my triangle of passion. Books would make it a rectangle of passion, but it sounds odd. I don't do any sports. Had a brief experience in soccer and bow-shooting, but didn't like how people behaved as soon as a prize was mentioned. I live for fun. Everything I do is for fun, not for rewards. The competitions took away the fun in sports, so I quit.

I guess that sums it up.

Well.. I am not a regular poster but I am an accomplished lurker on the forum so i'll give it a go... let you know who's the boogy man!!! lol

My name is William and...

Personal: I am 22 years old, soon to be 23. I live in Montréal, within the confines of the province of Québec, inside Canada. I am not married but in a relationship, been 6 months now (woohoo!) No kids. Still living at home with my parents, trying to finish up my studies before I move on my own.
Work: Well currently I work in an hospital, you could say I do administrative work, albeit that wouldn't be exactly it... i'm like the "handyman of everything obscure and downright unknown". Basically I examine patient files and book them their numerous rendez-vous if I can figure out what the doctor wrote! lol I do that on week-ends, otherwise I spend my time at the univeristy where I am completing a Bachelor degree in Psychology.

Gaming: I loved games since I was 5... Had a nintendo 8bit at the time and couldn't stop playing blades of steel!! Best hockey game EVER lol well for those nostalgic sort like me :-P. I usually end up playing a lot of RPGs (favorite kind of game) but I did my share of MMORPGs... Began with everquest a while back, did it for 3 years then moved on to FFXI. Tried a few "free games" like 9dragons or Ultima Online and finally my g/f convinced me to try WoW... 3 weeks ago! lol been playing eversince!

Other interest: I like so many things... i'm basically a Jack-of-all-trades... I put my nose in everything and learn a lot but usually only on the surface. For instance I began learning Japanese since I like Asian culture. I love human behavior, studying it is one of my passion. I have a very keen interest towards the suicide topic. I like a few sports like soccer, played chess for several years. Love dancing and singing (but am VERY bad at it lol...) and to finish this I really LOVE riding my motorcycle. Those are not the only things I like but if I keep going on I won't finish till next christmas and die of hunger before that lol

So as Verne troyer so eloquently says in his WoW add...

What's your game!

Personal: Michael, I'm 24. Married, no kids, but I have a beagle named Yoshi, and 2 Cats, Nutmeg and Goobie.

Work: I'm a senior sales associate for Radio Shack... yay. Heheh :)

Gaming: I'm a huge gamer. I collect old gaming systems. I have the new ones except the PS3, but one day I'll get one. I play on Xbox Live a lot, but I also play WoW a lot too :) Druid will be my 3rd 70, he was my 5th 60+ character :)

Other Interests: Racketball, paintball, volleyball, softball, and other sports that I randomly get asked to play.

So far, I think I win for least number of posts. (dubious honor)

Here we go:

Personal: 21, junior at Purdue University majoring in Electrical Engineering.
Work: I'm a co-op at an electric motors company called Regal Beloit Corp.
Gaming: Used to be very into the RTS games like Age of Empires and Command and Conquer, specifically C&C: Generals. WoW is my first MMO, and friends got me started this past May
Other Interests: I swing dance as much as possible which includes driving across the Midwest to Chicago, Indy, and Columbus.

Awesome thread Jeebar!

Personal: Name is Alon. Am a 24 year old male and am currently living in Johannesburg, South Africa. (I say currently because I tend to move a lot). Am the youngest of 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Single at the moment but have a beautiful puppy called Jade and an Iguana called Yoda.

Work: Work for a software development company as a programmer. Second in command now in the office which is a great feeling :)

Gaming: I've been a RPG fan since I could read and have played DnD since I was about 8. Was never a big fan of computer games or console games until I got WoW. Been playing now for almost 2 years >.<

Other Interests: None really :P - I'm a relatively boring individual these days. I work way to hard (12 hour days FTL) and only get to see friends a couple nights a week. Most of my spare time is spent playing WoW or watching movies/drinking with my flatmates. Used to be a squash player but work makes me way too tired to play.

I wouldn't say I'm a regular, but I would say I'm often around here. Anyway, here it goes:

Personal: I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a dog. Have a girlfriend, dating her for over 1.5 year. I have 25, she has 27. Oh, yes, my name is Ivan, nice to meet ya.

Work: I work for a major brazilian company called Globo Producoes. It's a company that has severall channels on television, newspapers, radios, etc. Almost runs the country, lol. But my work here is to maintain a pletore of systems running. Usually it is quiet, but sometimes, when sh*t happens, it becomes a nightmare. But, hey, I get very well paid.

Gaming: Always played games and always will. First game I ever played was Frogger on an Atari, along with Digdug. Played Nintendo, Genesys, Snes, Playstation, Playstation2, a ton of PC games (from XCOM to WoW, passing through AoK and AoE:TC, FFXI, Ragnarok, CS, and many many others).

Other Interests: Like to read a lot. Usually, I read one book each week. Sometimes, when the book is too slow or too large, it can take 2 weeks to read, but hardly more than that. Sometimes I read a book in one or two days, as I did with the last Harry Potter.

I like a lot to cook too. I'm thinking on having some cooking lessons and getting serious about this profession, maybe work on some fancy restaurant and later open up one myself. I have some cooking recipes that I made up and everyone that eats it loves it.

I don't really like sports a lot, but I enjoy swimming. I always swam (I think that's the past tense for swim, not sure though), since a litlle kid untill this day. It brings me some sort of inner peace, and this is highly important, IMO.

It's been a little while since we've had one of these...

Personal: I'm 33, live in Bermuda (born & raised), and have been married for ten years to a wonderful woman.

Work: I was a police officer here for almost 8 years, and left to get my Associate's degree in information systems. I currently work as a hardware & software monkey for the authorised reseller & service centre for Dell in Bermuda.

Gaming: I have been a gamer since a little kid, starting with a Colecovision (with the Atari 2600 adapter) as a young boy, and been gaming ever since. I have played several consoles: NES, SNES, Playstation, PS2, Xbox. I like many genres of games, including FPS, RTS, Third-person adventures- but my first love has always been RPGs. This is my second MMO, after spending about a year in FFXI.

Other Interests: I read avidly, enjoy fishing, gardening, swimming, cooking and eating (perhaps a little too much!).

I rarely post but I stalk regularly.

Personal: I'm 24 Female, living in south Florida with my fuzzy butt kit-kat. Currently in a long and happy relationship with my Gnome Mage. He lured me to WoW! *******...

Work: I currently work as half babysitter to my niece, half sou chef to my brother in law. Trying to help him get his small businesses off the ground.

Gaming: I've been gaming since we had an Atari, I personally prefer simple fun things like Sonic and Mario but RPG's are my bread and butter. I played EQ for a year then moved over FFXI. Where I played a Galka (Girlka; in my case :> )Monk for 3 years. When I meet my boyfriend a year ago I got WOW; which he'd been playing for a few months, to get to know each other better. I rather be Horde but I wasn't about to make him start over his character. (Remember the FFXI thing? ..so yeah I get attached to my toons) I leveled a Hunter and Shammy to mid 20's before I made a druid. Which I fell instantly in love with.

Other Interests: Hmmm.. other then gaming and such. I like to draw, I have a page on DA but it's only a hobby. I also enjoy reading fantasy. Currently reading "Dragon Outcast" by E. E Knight. It's the third book thus far in his "Age of Fire" series. All from the dragon's perspective, my kind of book. :3

Happy Holidays!!!
