I'd think
this is a bit more rounded and puts some of your skills into work more fluently.
I'm not gonna knock devastation at all here (it's nice) but without Ruin it's really only half complete. Would be like a Shatter Mage without Ice Shards...
The fact about Sbolt/Sburn is that they are great DPS even without abnormally high crit%, and for most intents and purposes you'll be relying at least as much on your affliction for damage, and relying a ton on it's utility (of which Destruction has relatively none.)
Improved Drain Soul's return effect is broken, and the spell itself relatively useless in most grind situations and especially in PVP. The threat drop is nice, but in groups you'll probobly be getting more threat from SBolt spams anyways...
Shadow Embrace 1/5 is still a nice choice as it adds another magic debuff that must be taken care of which when used in conjunction with UA can really freak people out.
Suppresion 3/5 will get you full effect in PVE, and 5% (instead of 6%) in PVP which is still argueably better than spending that point anywhere else on the board.
With this build you'll need Fel Concentration 5/5 (I've never even seen someone have 2/5 in it before).
Improved CoA adds about 3% dps if you're doing DoT/Fear rotations... if you're in a group or doing Sburn/Sbolts it adds even less... stear clear.
Fel intellect is argueable here, and it can actually be a toss up between that and Improved Imp (for the Blood Pact bonus) or Malediction (for raiding especially). I like intellect because it gives me a bit more to Pact off the Imp, and gives me that +3%mp no matter how I'm getting my mana (buffs, +mana, ect).
The build's a nice alternative to the cookie-cutter SL/SL but it's definatly got different purposes and strengths. I still lose to SL/SL with it... probobly more so than not unfortunately... Oh well~
