Warrior/Lock Pally/Lock pairFollow

#1 Dec 21 2007 at 2:25 PM Rating: Decent
My wife and I haved decided to make the swap over to WoW from EQ where she played a druid and I played a pally for years and years. She has decided on a warlock and I usually play a tank class, but I hated the fact that in EQ (and in WoW as my reading shows) pallys are a great diverse class but are really second rate tanks at endgame. Is the pally/lock combo going to be a much better pairing than the war/lock pair? I want to be a usefull endgame class, but having fun with my wife and being able to be an effective pair is more important than being the goto guy endgame. What do ya think?

when i first played wow back when it first came out i was a paladin. didnt go for much healing items like alot of pallys back then and went mainly on dps as we rocked owned everything. now tho paladins are mainly used for healing as there own at that or maybe as DPS.

imo make a paladin and war. lvl both to lvl 10 then focus on paladin with the lock if lock gets attacked u can heal the lock then DPS the enemy thats my advice. pally/lock over war/lock. but all depending what u wanan do for endgame really. like u said u like tanking. so then go for war/druid/ as there the best for tnaking . ppl say paladins cant tank but there can just need the right kit tanking def+ spell damage etc for it

Your speaking privelages have been taken away until you learn how to spell, at least pretend to know a little bit of grammar, and just make sense in general.

To answer your question icetoff, you MAY be better off with a pally, if your wife is going to be playing a lock. The role most pallys will fill as they level, and get into end game, is either that of a healer or a tank. Pally DPS isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's definitely down there in the bottom of the barrel. The reason why this pairing may work well is the relative ease a pally will have in tanking as you level, and the obscene level of survivability you will have as well. Pally healing is incredibly mana efficient, which will allow you to keep yourself healed as you tank and between fights. Locks have always been known for the mana efficiency of their grind, so I feel like the two will go hand in hand quite nicely for getting to 70 together.

That said, you should consider warrior for the simple fact that we're the best class in the game.

My warrior just dinged 46 and I was questing with my RL friend who is a lvl 46 lock. Im specced fury and im not sure what hes specced but w.e it was we owned. We downed things so fast we didnt need to stop ever. We could take on at most 5 mobs at the same lvl of ours. His minion tanked and i dps'd, bt when things went sour I threw up def. stance and we got through everything.

Just my two cents.

ur an idiot.

I WAS making a joke, but considering most all of the top rated arena teams have a warrior in them SOMEWHERE, I would say I'm substantiated as far as PvP goes. At the very least, we stomp locks into the ground every time. Enjoying the resilience nerf to your DoTs?

You butchered your quote, by the way. It's Patton, and it's "The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other ******* die for his." Go back to being a crappy lock on your own boards.

Thanks for all your help. The War/Lock combo seems to be working just fine. I kill stuff faster than she does and we just wipe through stuff. Like you said...if i get more than 3 i just switch to defensive and become a rock. Both classes seem to be fun, and the Pally might be easier to play with the lock, but.....at end game I would rather be the goto tank then a healer with an off chance to be a tank...so im going to stick with the War.

Thanks for the help agian.

Me and my wife actually lvl as lock pally combo me playing the lock it was relatively easy but there is no way even a retro pally can hold aggro of a lock in pve/lvling. so it always ended up with me tanking and trying to cast or just stay happy with dots and she had to heal me. We are both 70 now and in my guild main tank is a pally doing pretty good in Kara, heroics and such but majority of pally tanks fail miserably. now we are lvling warrior (me) and rogue combo and from experience playing warrior and lock Im sure warrior lock combo beets them all if you go fury your dps will rival that of a lock and you will be on the dmg receiving end of the game most of the time. lock not being interrupted will be able to do maximal dmg which will result in you two burning through mobs with little down time you will still need bandages food and drinks but who doesn't
