So

I just dinged 70 and for some strange reason I never really did much PvP in the journey. Solo my way to 70 pretty much all the way and think that I am pretty good good PvE. Managed to do many of the Group quests alone so i have a pretty good understanding of Lock mechanics and what makes us tick.

So a friend introduces me to AV and a whole new world opens up for me. I love it. Have a great time, its fun die a bit, kill a bit then I look at damage table and Huh? I am so far behind highest damage scorer its scary ( I thought I was DPS ffs!)The worst thing is I havnt stopped laying down DOT, SB the whole time the battle is on

So then I decide to do WSG for the marks to get some more gear and then the truth hits. WTFPawnage time for Angelena! How the hell do I make a difference in this sort of BG?

heres how it goes. Mount up run towards ally camp, try to support one of my team mates start to lay down some DOT's, spotted by ally of some sort intercept stun, 3 shots - dead. rez run back sapped stun 3-5 shots dead. And this was the story for about 5 BG. How the fack can a DOT dealer deal with a 3 shot wipe? again and again and again.

In the end I changed tactics and lurked DOTTed and ran away. This was better but it seemed so underhand and cowardly. So my question is - Is that the way of the Lock of am I doing something really really wrong? (I kind a hope the latter!)

I dont have great gear but its not bad - usually about 10500K health and a lot of spell damage - not much res or crit but I'm trying to work on that.

In fact it may be just gear and once I have sucked up the intial pain it may get better but wow 3-5 hits, dead, gets a bit boring after a while.

Any advice for a new Pvper and how to max out lock in BG's greatly received.

I guess Ima asking this because I read so much crap about Locks being OP and the best DPS yada yada yada but it sure doesnt feel that way atm.

Cant link to armory as at work but name is Angelena on dragonblight if you want to look at gear and stuff.

Hope you can help. If its a case of L2P say so but constructively - I freely acknowledge I may be the worst PVP lock in all of WOW - and I value any help you can give me. I want to be better!

mmm.. Well I have few suggestions for you.

1. You have pretty high tailoring skill but you don't have any FSW gear. Make the shoulders and boots at least (since your skill is already high enough), they give you a lot of extra +dmg. Consider raising your tailoring skill to the max and make a full set. Really good value in bg's and easily obtained (though very expensive).

2. Resilience is very important stat in PvP and you'll just have to grind honor to get some (you can find some stuff with resilience from AH also, especially necklaces). Before you have good amount of resilience you'll be an easy target for rogues and you'll just have to accept that for a while.

3. Use felhunter not Imp -> put those 3 talent points somewhere else. But in the overall I think your talent points are spent pretty nicely. Though you should give SL/SL -build a try if you think you need more survivability. Personally I prefer Affliction like you.

4. put minor speed on boots rather than 5 stamina :)

Hi thanks for this

I was moving towards FSW but then I saw the pvp felweave gear and i figured that overall this would be better than any of the FSW for overall stats and that eventaully i would end up just not wearing the FSW gear. Do you think that FSW>feleweave in pvp scenario. Seems a shame to send all that money (c 2K) or time to farm for gear that only lasts as long as it takes to farm honour. Do you have different view?

I figured felpuppy out about WSG fight 7 and I have to say it did make a difference. I guess my natural style is to go in all fists swinging and I dont think thats what lock is about!

I gues its just time and experience but I sure wish I had done a bit more PvP as I was levelling!

Oh yes one thing that made my night was watching the rogue that had been stalking me throught the battle dancing on my grave after stunlocking me to death (again) whilst UA. CoA were ticking away on him and watching him die beside me. I LOL'd. Rogue 50 Lock 1 /sigh

Biggest problem is that you waited until 70. Should have saved up at 69. The problem at 70 is that your playing against people in T4+ or Arena S1+. Gear makes all the difference in the world.

Yup, you got it right, you wouldn't be using FSW forever. I would say that you have to estimate how long does it take from you to grind all that honor and how much extra gold you have (to be spent in FSW). In case you don't have extra gold and are determined to do some serious PvP, then maybe it's wise not to spend your gold on FSW.

Though you should remember that you don't need the full set of FSW; you can make just one or two pieces of it and get nice boost to your dps. Also, FSW is good if you want to do instances and such later on.
