Wowaceupdater is completely spyware/adware free. It does have a small ad banner at the bottom of the program, but it doesn't install anything else to your computer.

Doesn't happen much? Haven't you heard of a whole battlegroup of allies that refuse to do AV (giving everyone 2 hour que times) because "horde has too many advantages" and "the map is unbalanced in favor of the horde" and "horde always wins" lol
#7 Dec 29 2007 at 12:26 PM Rating: Decent
Oh you mean my battle group. Yeah 2 hour queues. They have done it to themselves, the only alliance fighting in our current AV are there for the marks. Most tend to AFK now. That sounds familiar, like back when the horde always lost AV.

Alliance might lose WSG, AB and EOTS 99.995% of the time on my Battlegroup but we represent well in AV, in fact I pulled 3k honor out of there today!

As for UI, I keep it simple.

Pally Power. No paladin should be without it, especially raid pallies.

Grid + Clique. Two seperate UI, Grid is a raid ui that is tight and concise with boxes for each member of raid/bg and presenting a surprising amount of info into such a tiny space. Clique allows you to assign mouse button to spell casts. My left click is fol, right HL, alt left cleanse etc. So I just click on Grid and do all my healing. No fumbling, bulky raid UI. Nice smooth effective healing.

Used to use healbot but it is complete *** compared to Grid + Clique

Other than that Recount for meters, Cartographer for co-ords, Omen for threat meters, Scrolling Combat text. I don't need a lot of bars up since Grid+Clique has me taken care of, so I dont bother with bar mods.

Well, since there's already a topic...I guess I'll ask here. I'm currently playing my prot pally (just hit 49) and I'm curious what people would recommend for a prot pally. I have no add-ons at all, no threat meters or anything, so I'm basically looking for the whole kit and kaboodle. I don't know why, but I've always been hesitant about messing around with add-ons (simply because I've never really felt the need, since I have a macro that tells me coords.) Oh...and probably a dps meter as well for my 62 shammy, if you don't mind :)

Thanks in advance, all.

I might get Clique to make me a better BG healer. Grid alone makes me so awesome in PvP healing. I have it set up so that only people in range of my heals are displayed then I just sit there and make sure all the bars stay up.

Now, I'm just starting to get my PvP gear, so I'm stuck in my PvE gear until then, so there are few peices that are less than plate. At the beginning of one AB match, a different Paladin on another server made the comment "Aren't Paladins supposed to be in plate?"

I checked him out and he's got S1/S2 gear on, I think one piece of S3 gear and a bunch of other PvP epics. At the end of the battle, I had 5 deaths, he had 4, and I had outhealed him by about 30k, and outdamaged him. I was going to gloat at the end but he left a second before I could get the message out. Oh well.

Anyway, Grid was what made that all possible *huggles Grid*

BG healing I really could care less about the gear and more about the healing. An undergeared healer is still a healer, and healers win BG's.

I have started to focus on fleshing out my PvP gear, picked up S3 pants, s1 helm, and boot, wrists, belt. Went up to 270 resilience 10K+ health. I have really noticed the difference, lit a fire under my ***. I will have the s2 shield in 2 weeks, neck piece by Tues/Wednes and then it is just farming for rings. Not leet PvPness but with 15k+ armor, 6% damage reduction from the prot tree, and the resilience to boot I have found I am becoming decidingly harder to kill. Ran into a Enh/Elem Shammy duo in full S1 gear and they both ran out of mana and I was still kicking.

Omen/KTM Threat meters (I have both, depending on who I'm with and what they are running. ie if my group only has KTM, I'll use that so they can see my threat as well as me seeing theirs).

OptiTaunt: gives a warning to the target of my Righteous Defense when it is resisted so they are aware of the fact, also can send that message to the party and/or raid. Plays an annoying little "jingle" for me too so I am more aware of my taunt being resisted.

TankPoints: allows you to calculate what your stats would be if you were to change a certain piece of gear, add a certain enchant, etc. I don't use it for the gear comparison aspect as it is tailored for Warriors, but it has helped a lot, particularly making usre I stay uncrushable as I swap gear/gems.

That's all I really use "as a tank". Any other addons are just "fluff": TitanPanel, Critline, DamageMeters, etc..

EDIT: look into "Enhancer" for your Shaman as well, particularly if you are, or will be, Enhancement spec. Puts a visual display of your Totems, how long they have, pulse when the Totem "ticks", and in the middle of your screen shows the time left of your Stormstrike on the enemy as well as the "hidden CD" on Windfury Weapon. Has helped me get the most of my Totems.

Omen exchanges datas with KTM so if you use Omen with the rest of the group using KTM you would still see their threat while they also see your threat... Don't know about the other way around thou :)

Personally I'm just using some random add-ons to make my ui look pretty... It looked really great 2 patches ago, but those stupid patches keep on ******** my UI's >_<

The way I understood it (maybe this is what you meant to say, I'm not sure, I'm tired, lol) is that if I use Omen and the rest of the group uses KTM their data transfers to Omen and I can then see the whole party/raid, but my data wouldn't transfer to KTM so they can see each other's threat, but not mine: is that true, or are KTM and Omen completely interchangeable? If they are completely interchangeable then I'll scrub KTM cause I like the look of Omen better.

They are completely interchangable. I was raiding and the majority of the raid was using KTM and I was using Omen and they were commenting on my threat level so KTM can understand it.

I've won all the AVs I've been in since I started playing again, maybe it was just luck... or a small sample size. I don't like AV so I don't play it much.

There is an option under the Omen menu, its call "Publish to KTM". If you click it, it sends data to KTM people. If not, it saves you the bandwith.

**Oh and Omen automatically reads KTM as well, so Omen really is interchangeable.

Did you ever read the Alla interview with the Omen creator? If you had you would have switched long long ago.

Didn't know there was such a thing. I'm also 'fairly' new to using addons and mostly just go off of recommendations made by other people, and my guild basically all use KTM, so that's what I had.
