PvP (Arena mostly) questions :) Follow

#1 Dec 20 2007 at 3:52 PM Rating: Decent
Hi guys ,

after a five or six months break with my Priest I've decided to play him again as on January 7th I'LL be able to migrate again and join two good friends on a PvP realm for some frickin' 3vs3 Arenas. We will be Priest/Mage/Warlock , but right now I have to farm those PvP items first , and also learn some skillz or something. But I've got a couple of questions , and when I was playing my Rogue Allakhazam Rogue Forum was a great help , so I expect Priests to help me too ;-)

Here we go...

1 : First of all , spec.I've decided to go deep Disc to get the best surviability possible , and ended up with this build :

Any suggestions ? After a couple of days of playing Disc tree seems pretty solid and brings what I expected (surviability) , but I'm not sure about the Holy Tree.As I hardly ever cast something else that instant heals , holy crits seem pretty useless , ans maybe 3/3 Improved Renew would help more. What do you guys think ? Same for Divine Fury.I almost never cast a Greater Heal , even on BGs , not to speak about Smite...Would Spell Warding be a better choice ? What do you think about Holy Nova ? Rank 1 would be a funny tool against stealthed ppl , but is it worth sacrificing a point somewhere ? Which one ?

2: Considering that my gear was Pure PvE (mooncloth set , and the healing hood and pants of the white something) , my first concern is to level up my Stam/resi.So far I've got 2 S1 Items (Chest and shoulders) , along with S2 bracers.I'm sitting on 7.8K HP right now (unbuffed) and I'm willing to level it up more , without thinking about Resilience atm.At which point should I consider going for Resilience over Stamina (by switching from 12 Stam gems to 4 Resi/6 Stam gems and Resilience chest enchant over 150 HP) ?

3: My +healing is taking quite a hit as I go for those PvP items , how much do you think I should keep to make it viable ? In other words , how much am I allowed to drop in order to get Surviability stats before alarming ?

4: On 3vs3 Arenas , do you think it's best to use Power Infuse on yourself when you're focused in order to heal yourself , or should I buff one of my teammates to help bursting down opponents ? (I'll be playing with 40/0/21 Mage and Affli lock)

5: Which add-ons do you think I should get ?

Well that's all for now , sorry about the long thread and stuff...And also forgive my english , I'm french ;-)
Any tips will be appreciated , even if you don't answer all the questions at once it doesn't matter , as long as you have nice infos and tips for me ;-)

Have a nice day anyway and thanks again for reading me.

1.) The Arena-Healing build is a 28/33/0 build, i dont have a link atm, but just look the forums or google it. A pure Disc build is more for the 5v5 bracket. Holy Nova is quite usefull, to toss around Rank1 when you know there is a stealh somewhere or the rogue that was attacking you just stealthed.

2.) For myself i have 11k HP and 320 resilience atm. For the start i would try to get to 9k HP and 150 resilience at least. It´s hard to say if you should focus on Sta or resilience first, when you grind the S1 parts both stats will come together. For the gems, the 4res/6sta is quite good, thou i have +12 Sta gems and 150 HP enchant on my S3 body.

3.) +Healing isnt that important imo, specially not in the 3v3. It´s not how much you can heal, its more that you can even toss a heal. Be readdy, that you will be the main target against nearly every team. Mostly you will just bubble, PoM, Renew (yes impr. Renew is worth it) yourself while running around. When you get the chance to heal you gonna spam Flashheals. So surviabilty over +healing, specially at the beginning.

4.) As i said, i dont have Power Infusion cause its not included in the mentioned build. Hoewever about the dmg part, 2.3 gave us quite a boost with spell dmg and as playing with a lock (healthstones) myself we do the following stuff. We call out a focus target and i help my teammates with the focus burst dmg (SW:P, Mindblast, SW:D, Smite) till they had to use there HS. Then they announce that in Teamspeak in i step back to kite/heal.

5.) Any heal-addon like Healbot is quite good because you just need to click on bars to heal, no targeting. An ArenaMaster for example, so you can see which opponents you face sooner.

Good Luck :)

I'd definitely want to pick up Spell Warding and Improved Renew in the holy tree. Blessed Recovery isn't all that helpful except as a dispel buffer: 1 point in it is fine.

If you are committed to both Power Infusion and Reflective Shield in the Disc tree, then I don't see much you can trim there. I do want to point out that Silent Resolve is quite useful for a build that depends on buffs like your shield and the on-crit procs.
