Hunter BM SpecFollow

#1 Dec 20 2007 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
I am here to get some input on a BM spec I am thinking about using. I am respecing my BM hunter cause I notice I dont use Aimed shot a lot in BG and I have more output in damage without it. Even if my Cat dies I still get more damage without Aimed shot and I am usually 2nd or 3rd on the damage list.

Would a 48/13/0 spec be decent with the new arena gear is one question seeing my base AP will come from the armor.
Here
is the spec I am thinking about using, maybe someone could tell me a bit of info on how they think it would work. Aimed shot would come in at 70 for KZ reason with MD. any info would be apreciated.

just incase the url link thing for this forum didnt work right.

If you don't use aimed shot alot in BG's you really should. It gives a nasty debuff to people you hit with it.

I like hitting them shaman that stand there just healing themselves over and over again. While people pound on them. I put that bad boy on him and its GG.

Druids are also nice targets for this. Palis tend to hate you if you stick it on them right after their bubble goes away.

I can't actually look at your spec but I would go 41/20 so you get the 30% extra damage for crits and rapid killing. Those are enough for me to stay that way. The best PVP build right now is a 41/20 MM/SV.

While you don't get the 18 second I win button you still have some nice output with the ability to drop traps quick as hell with the extra 10% health and surfooted. Makes you very viable to get around.

Just a thought.

Aimed Shot is a must have for PvP, the debuff really only exists for PvP reasons, so you dropping it because you're not using it much means that you need to rethink how you PvP, not your build.

41/20 BM/MM is great sustained DPS build, which includes aimed, but only gets it for the crit increase of the talent it's connected to.

41/20 MM/SV is also a nice DPS build buts its more bursty and deadly against PvP opponents.

SV/?? Builds are great for raid utility and trapping gods, PvP also benefits from this, but how much i have no idea, I don't know anyone who raids thats SV spec, I just know that better traps, Wyvern Sting, Expose Weakness and a high crit chance aren't ever a bad thing.

With that said, for Battlegrounds, MM>SV>BM (and i'm a BM hunter), this is because of how much damage MM can put out in such a short period of time, scatter shot, silencing shot, and improved arcane (makes kill kiting a little faster).

I have no experience in arena, but all specs have a place here, it just depends on your role in the team. BM = CC proof damage from your team, MM = better spur of the moment CC (scatter and I include silencing because it controls the damage/ healing output of your opponent), SV = CC god, crit master and therefore FF support in the extreme from Expose Weakness.

When I specced BM, I didn't take Aimed Shot because I wanted Aimed Shot. I took it because I wanted Mortal Shots, and that's the only way to get it.

Mortal Shots is a superb talent.

I agree, while Aimed shot does not have a lot of synergy with the BM build, mortal shots are a must have if you are going for a 41/20 PvE spec (or even PvP). I suppose just because you get aimed shot does not mean that you have to actually use it. I still do open with it every now and then, but I usually will pop intimidation so that if aimed crits, I don't pull aggro off my pet.

My aimed crits are substantially less than what they were when I was marks, so now my shot rotation usually consists of Arcane, auto, steady, auto, steady, auto, arcane. Aimed does work ok if you pop rapid fire too, then you get the shot off quickly.

Aimed is there for three reasons;
Misdirection pulling, Mortal shot and PvP.
And yeah, i do hit it sometimes in PvE, but thats when my finger hurts from spamming macros all day long.
