#1 Dec 20 2007 at 12:06 PM Rating: Decent
Been thinking of going Mutilate for a while now, this build any good?

EDIT: Sorry >.< Should of made myself more clear, Is this a good pvp Build to go at lvl 70? Anyone have any previous experiances with a build like this?

It works, but not as well as going down to duel weild in combat instead of opportunity.

you might want to consider those 2 points in SS, unless you just use shiv.

Theres advantages to oppurtunity and to duel wield special.

Both of their contributions to mutilate [in dps terms] are very comparable. Its their added effects that should be looked into then.

WIth opp you have a better opener with garrote for warriors and such platy goodness.

with duel wield you have a better shiv and better white damage, which still counts for most of our damage no matter what your doing.

You'll only generally be doing garrote once on the person at the beginning of a fight, thats if have the "oppurtunity" to have stealthed behind him or her to use it. Though once should really be enough.

While with duel weild its there increasing your white hits and shiv throughout the fight while still being useful for your muty.

Never been a huge fan of the mutilate build. In my personal opinion at the moment I prefer either a combat or sub build for PvP.

As a whole, combat swords is the best at the moment.

Though as long as you enjoy being mutilate, then why not?

Personally I would get rid of the talent points spent in the Sub tree, and put them into Improved SS, and also put Lightning Reflexes up to 5/5.

It really depends, are you looking to do BG's or Arena? And If Arena, what are you looking at most? 2v2..3v3..5v5?

Combat swords is not the best at the moment.

You really give some awful advice. Imp SS in a mut build for a 70? Hi, Shiv?

"Combat" and "Sub" are way too general. I can come up with 6 different combat builds that are viable in arena and 10+ sub builds that I've seen in arena.

Mut is still viable and will continue to be viable. It just doesn't currently match up with HARP.

Post 2.3.2 I'd expect to see a lot more mut rogues.

There are still some great rogues with excellent ratings that play Mut spec.

Usually the top rogues are Mut/Combat, but there are a few who do well with Mut/Sub.

I once read/heard somewhere that mutilate was broken without opportunity, but then again, many of the Mutilate rogues I see on my server are using duelwield too... Playing with Opportunity atm, I can see a real differance with my DPS and mutilate damage, especially in the Non-Resiliance 50-60 AV, just yesterday I got a ~1500 double Mutilate crit on a clothie, but would the 50% Increased damage from your offhand really make as much difference? Plus I really like Cold Blood+Ambush with the WSG damage buff ^^ Instant one shot ftw.

The 2% Crit Chance mitigation with Sleight of Hand also looked quite nice, but now that I look, Endurance look fun too...

I choose (sp?) this Mutilate spec as, after trying Combat Swords to lvl, I found mutilate not only more fun to play, but also just as good in duels and Battlegrounds. I was originally going to go Maces HARP, but as we all know, that option is no longer available to us :<

Changes to subtlety tree made Mutilate/Sub more appealing, stick with Mutilate/Combat until you can play it properly, its far more easier than Subtlety.

And Battlegrounds is a joke, complete joke for viable PvP builds, I have done well with Combat Daggers in them and thats saying alot for the level/quality for BGs as an accurate measurement of any PvP build
