#1 Dec 20 2007 at 10:54 AM Rating: Decent
hello

I am looking to roll a warrior and i have been reading alot of threads on warriors and there rolls in groups and solo. I was wanting to roll a human. there abilities seem pretty solid for a warrior. i also have been reading alot on the different builds, arms, fury, or protection. this is my first time through the game with a warrior, wich would be the best for me to be able to experience a little of everything the game has to offer?I was leaning twords an arms build. also, any suggestions or links to builds would be greatly apprecated. i was also like some clarafication an DPS and tanking. What is DPS? This is mostly for groups and raids right? i am a newb to the game and warriors. sorry for the newb questions. and just one more question. two-handed, duel wield, or sword and board? one better than the other? thanks again

Welcome to the boards. A lot of your questions are addressed in the Warrior FAQ sticky at the top of the thread lists. And it would help next time if you separated your questions from the paragraph a little...maybe number them? There are a ton of people who are better qualified than me to give you complete and detailed answers. But since you are new to the game I'll give you the simple answers.

Some of the racial abilities are nice...but honestly none of them will seriously impact your gameplay. Roll whatever you like looking at.

All of the builds will allow you to experience what the game has to offer. You will find that you will be required to fill whatever roles are needed in a group. Most groups won't care if you are an Arms warrior if they need a tank. Sometimes you will have to tank, sometimes you will have to dps. Learn how to do everything to the best of you ability regardless of your specific build.

Covered in the sticky in terms far beyond my ability to explain.

"Tanking" is where you act as a physical shield for the squishier members of your group. Your job as a tank is not to do massive amounts of damage. Your job is to keep all mobs focused on you so that other people can do the damage.

"DPS" means damage-per-second. A DPS character or build is designed to inflict as much damage on a target in the shortest time possible. To be honest you will rarely find an oppurtunity to do this in groups. DPS classes are easy to come by and you will most likely be expected to tank due to your high amount of armor and ability to use a shield.

There really is no answer to this question. Some people love the big hits which you can acheive with a two-handed weapon. Some people prefer the consistent damage of dual weapons. Others love the survivability of sword and shield. Learn them all and pick the one you enjoy the most. But get a shield and a one-handed weapon for the frequent times you will be expected to tank.

I hope this helps a little. Enjoy

You should also check the FAQ on the Main WOW Forum, and then on the Trade Skills page. There is sooooooooo much info to learn.

Also, check out the Guides section. There is a lot of good info for people just starting out. It explains groups, tanking, raids, etc...

Arms is a pretty good spec for levelling, i switched from arms to fury because i found it more fun aswell as duel wielding. but thats my opinion. Also sword and board isnt the greatest damage dealer. If you wanna get the job done quickly go for fury or arms. if u wanna tank go for prot. spec and sword and board.
