Stat question regarding healing in instances.Follow

So I looked through the stickies and didn't really quite find what I was looking for. However I did find it kind of answered in the SP section. Not sure if that applies for me as well while healing but here it is.

I am trying to figure out what I need to gear into while healing in instances. I know that +healing is obvious and Intellect. I am curious as to how important Spirit is for healing. Maybe I am healing wrong but when I ran VC last night I felt like I was a holy pali spamming flash of light all over again. Except I was a priest spamming lesser heal. Is that how a priest is suppose to heal? Or is there a "Bigger" picture that I am missing?

Thank you for your help.

Spirit is useful to discipline and/or holy priests to increase MP5 and healing, its usefulness will depend on where you put your talent points. Spirit with no relevant talent points is not so useful because of the 5 second rule.

At low level, you should be keeping renew on the tank the whole fight (not immediately, wait till the dps have joined in too), use heal on the tank at roughly 60% health, renew any dps that draw aggro and heal if necessary, put a shield on a mage if they're going to AOE and heal them, fade if you draw aggro. Theres a bit more to it than just using lesser heal/heal. Priests have the widest variety of heals, things like group heals come later.

Thanks. Thats actually really helpful. I knew about the fade and tried to keep a renew on the tank but I didn't really think about just bubbling the DPS and then renewing them. Partually because I am kinda use to my Pali bubble. LOL! 5 min CD isn't worth bubbling the DPS to heal and if you bubble the tank... bye bye run lol.

That really helps alot. I will try that next run. When the DPS did get low on health and I didn't think I could get a lesser heal off on them I would bubble them but it was kind of an Oh **** move on my part. being lvl 16 in mostly whites healing for VC isn't fun.

Fortunately I hit 17 and threw on a few nice pieces. Including that ring and gloves.

I'll bubble cloth wearers and throw them a renew when they draw agro.

Later you will get prayer of mending (which should become your opener). It will actually give the tank agro rather than you. You will also get prayer of healing, which is good against aoe damage.

When you reach higher levels, you will find shackle undead to be useful to the group, and all priests have fear ward now. There's plenty to do as a priest.

If you spec where more spirit improves your healing, you will start to gain added benefit from more spirit later on. At a low level, intel is more important.
