Need review on thisFollow

Here is my build, lvl 70 (weird) BM hunter, or basically what i've done with it up to now, what i'm interested is how good or bad is it concerning this:
-due to nature of my job i'm like 6 months away from home and about 3-4 months at home
-not interested in calculations, just want to be usefull in a group
-my intentions were to make a build with scatter/intimidate/trap ability, pros and cons of it i need explained by someone more into mechanics of a game than me
-i'm more inclined to BM than any other spec, what i have to change on my gear

If my questions are stupid, well, i humbly apologise ppl, just need some answers cos i don't have time to get into it as deep as you do (don't think i wouldn't like it, thing is that i just can't).

I don't know why, but I can't get to your armory page, it's my internet connection so don't worry anout the link. I'm just going to answer this in a general way based on the post itself.

First thing about groups and builds, if you want to be "useful" you need to be able to do whatever job you say you're going to do, and for Hunter thats DPS/CC and depending on your build you will do one of those better than the other, or be more of a contributor for DPS (Expose Weakness). To do this you simply can't be a jack-of-all trades, your DPS will suffer and your CC, while good, doesn't make up for the rest of the fights where CC isn't necessary.

Basically what I'm saying is for a Hunter, at lvl 70, to be "useful" is to specialize in a tree, commit to it, get the 41 point talent and be as good as you can be at it.

As "useful" as you might be having your talents spread out, you have no focus, and therefore almost any other Hunter who specializes will be better for the group because he and the group know exactly what he can do and what he is going to do in the group.

I say all this, but the point is really, if you don't plan on raiding, do whatever you want, just don't expect to be competitive against most other Hunters, and don't get mad if you get a little flack for it.

I can't get to your armory either, but this is a build that brings good utility to a group.

(42/5/14) is my favorite 5 man BM build, although (41/3/17) is also very good, and if you're doing heroics might be better due to the trap resist boost.

(23/21/17) Seems to be what you are going after. There is tons of utility here, but this build will seriously gimp your dps. You're basically missing all the dps talents aside from the slaying ones, which aren't as good. The reason for BM is serpents swiftness and TBW really. Intimidate isn't really that good for CC, so I'd say if you're going BM go all the way.

(40/21/0) is slightly better but imo TBW is better then scatter, so not worth it.

with (3/21/37) build, you will be a CC god.

(Disclaimer: I did all these really fast, so I may have overlooked something. Also I've never actually played SV)

SHAME ON YOU!
never ever make another SV build without EW ;P
0/21/40 is generally considered to be the optimal CC/heroic build, and i fully agree with that.
(some small variations, but nothing major)

For all of you who cannot access the armory here is the talent build of the op: 37/21/3

From a talent POV I don't see why you need those 3 talent points in hawk eye. Those 6 yards are needed very seldom (if at all) in normal PvE and are costing you 12% of your dps (you need 5/5 in serpent swiftness, 2/5 is not enough when you are going for a BM build).
You seem to like scatter shot, but as long as you don't PvP I don't see why that talent is that important for you. The 41point BM talent is really! nice. I'd take it over scatter shot without another thought.

Gear looks okay, mostly blues, some from rather low BC instances, but ok for the level of progression.

However please have a look at your gear and put some enchants on it. Mainly the cheap ones will do you good (assault on bracers and gloves; savagery on your sonic spear).

So to answer your question in a rather short way. If you want to be a contribution to your group and you like BM, then go for the DPS role. You'll never be a king of CC and scatter shot will not fix that.
Get ferocious inspiration 3/3; get the beast within and serpent swiftness 5/5. That will improve your damage output by a good amount.
Basically this will cost you scatter shot and 6 yards of range, but it is well worth it. Scatter shot will not have a big impact upon your CC abilities (and intimidate is a fine ability to save your healer, equally good as scatter shot).
Also don't forget to use some enchants (BTW put three AP gems into stalkers helm of 2nd sight, the socket bonus is not worth three non-red gems).
