ive got a little bit of a dilemna. you see, ive been mace spec since before mace spec was cool (in xpac). about a week after i hit 70 i crafted my thunder, respecced to mace, and have been mace since. i made my deep thunder back when it took 12 nethers (instead of 8), but the old girl is starting to show her age. i dont raid, so getting a skillherald is out, leaving me with the arena season 3 weapons as my only option.

axes are ftl. i love axes, but they just dont work with resilience.

swords and maces are less affected by resilience however. mace procs completely ignore resilience, and sword procs, while they can be "resilienced" to not crit, and can receive lower crit damage when they do crit, still hit pretty damn hard.

the question is....is it hard enough to make it worth giving up the stun for?

the S3 mace is 3.6 spd, unlike my deep thunder which is 3.8, meaning ill get less procs per minute using the S3 mace. the sword is just a flat 5% chance, independent of weapon speed.

i personally know the power those mace stuns have, as ive been owned by them and have owned face with them, but at the same time, ive been mace spec for nearly a year, and perhaps worst of all....the S3 mace looks like a f*cking lantern! of all the models they could have picked for th S3 mace, they had to pick the one that screamed "let me beat you with my period-accurate 18th century english lamppost!"

i LOVE the look of the sword. i love swords in general, but i also love maces. i just want a change. but i dont want to suck. i know i have it in me to get shoulders this season, and i want to take every advantage i can get my hands on. but the mace just looks SO horrible....

theres no magical math that can help me choose like there is with axes. axes suffer most from resilience compared to the other weapon specs, so theyre out. no biggie. swords suffer more than maces do, and maces have such utility (essential in the smaller brackets!) but the sword is just....so nice.

ive seen warriors who have good ratings (2k+ in the new season) in the smaller brackets that use sword, and they obviously succeed with it. i suppose ultimately what im wondering is if theres some kind of different setup or playstyle thats necessary to put swords on par with maces, or if its something thats just all in my head?

help me my fellow executioners....youre my only hope....

Mace, Mace, a thousand times Mace.

Mace is still king in 5v5 and locking out one of the opponents is absolutely crucial in 2v2 and 3v3. Shutting down Druids alone is worth it.

Seconding zip on this. Go mace. It's the best, period. The ability to stun your opponents is amazing.

Regardless of your reason, your reason is wrong. I've seen plenty of warriors do a lot of things, like using duel wield MS builds, that are happy with them. This doesn't mean they're not idiots. In 2v2 the mace stun is even more effective, when the stun going off leaves you with the other player standing there begging for you to knock them around.

Mace > all for PvP.

I dont know, I've gotten lucky with sword procs and especially when I run with a shammy for 3's, windfury + sword spec is

well

amazing.

I know the majority of the time mace is >>>>>>>> swords, but I guess it really depends...

also - there are packs where you can change your weapons looks. My friend has a female undead priest and he uses the male orc warrior sprite with a ragnaros for his weapon just because he loves the look of that :D
