Farming the Badge of Tenacity at 68 ?Follow

Good morning everyone,

I just dinged 68 last night, got the pleasant surprise on the fact I don't have to pay my flying training (I haven't looked if that was the case, and I had the money anyway... =))

I was reading the forum and I saw someone talking about the badge of tenacity, being a feral druid and wanting to tank later, I'm kinda interested in getting it. I'm trying to leave as much quests zone as possible for when I'll be 70. I just finished the quests in Nagrand and havent got in BEM, Shadowmoon and Netherstorm yet! So if I combine the farming for the badge and the grinding required to level up, I may be winning, right? :)

Can I farm the crystals and the depleted badge BEFORE 70? No pre-req quest or anything except the flying mount?

Thanks for your time! =)

Theorically, yes.
The one problem is that the mobs over there are level 71-72 mostly, so you're likely to get crushing blows or whatnot and they'll hurt you pretty badly.

I'd suggest waiting till 70 and till good gear, but I suppose you could give it a try right now and see how you fare.

I will try.. but I did forget the 71-72 thing tho! I wonder why I didn't think about it! Anyway, I'll try, and we'll see ;)

Has anyone had good luck farming for a depleted badge? I know its a low drop rate but I've been killing everything (except the elites) on the plat. forever and still haven't had one drop.

Supposedly the drop rate from the shartuul event is much higher than the regular mobs. However at least 2 guildies have gotten a drop from the regular mobs and no one that I have heard of have gotten them from the shartuul event. Don't know if it was people aren't doing the event, or just not getting a good drop.

I bought mine on the AH for 1450G. The best purchase that I have ever made in my opinion.

One friend (on my priest server) farmed the badge.. it tooks forever but she did end up with the badge (without paying for the depleted badge).

Unless you are doing the Shartuul event, you are much better off just farming motes elsewhere and buying it on the AH. It is a very small drop chance. I have been exalted with Ogri'la since a couple of weeks after it went live and reqularly do the quests up there still for the gold and have never seen a depleted item drop.

10 daily quests a day for 10 days and you have 1000g to buy the badge on the AH! Why possibly spend 10-20hrs or more farming without getting it?

Easy, note on my original post, I'm not 70 yet! That is some way of grinding XP and having an objective! It would leave me 3 complete zone of questing and getting money.

I'm not keen on buying it on the AH. It's what I did on my priest, I brought for 3000g of equipment instead of getting my epic flying. This time, I want to get the other way around... grinding/farming for my epic and getting equiped by running instances.

I'm close to 2000g right now (68, dont forget) and grinding on humanoid gimme coins and cloths, that would work for me :D

I'm a 70 and I farmed the badge. It took awhile to finally get it to drop, but as I'm a lw also it gave me a chance to level up my professions with all the boar hides. Just gotta stick to it.

Hey Beast, do you regularly take down the boss dragons around the plateau, or the bosses from the portals in the corners behind the bombing areas? I'm almost exalted with Ogri'la too and run the dailies almost daily, and have only seen ONE depleted item -- a depleted mace that dropped off Rivendark.

It was early in my Ogri'la experience but I learned at that time from experience and comments that the depleted items are MUCH more likely to drop off the boss level mobs around there than the random mobs. So if I was going to farm for the badge, I'd be partying up to kill those dragons and bosses all the dang time.

That said, anything that costs as much to buy in the AH as the Badge of Tenacity has logically got to be REALLY rare and I don't have the patience to farm for it.

I've seen the Badge of Tenacity on my server AH going for 650g. By what you guys are saying this is a good deal and I would be better off buying this? Gold is not a big issue for me, but it would set me back from getting my epic flight form.

I'd jump on it at that price, no hesitation whatsoever. I've never seen one under 1800g on my server and never heard about one being seen/bought for less than 1500g until RareBeast said 1000g just above. Maybe the price is coming down, that'd be sweet. Still, 650g is a steal.

Fairly regular price is 1000g on my server.

I have done a few of the dragons & other summons in Ogri'la but usually it is a bit hard to get a group together and not really worth the effort. They definitely have a higher rate of dropping the depleted items though (according to Thottbot, Wowhead & Allakhazam)

650g is certainly a worthwhile price though!

Funny story, I actually have had 2 drop on my warrior.

The first one dropped at a time when I had become fed up with blue BOEs not selling... so I listed it at 25 gold buyout. It sold almost immediately, of course.

The second one, I knew what I had on my hands. So I sold it for 1100 gold.

Now, my feral druid is approaching 70 and I really wish I had one on hand. Oh well, time to start scouring the AH. I really don't think I'll get lucky enough to get a third drop.

I think I have to agree with the others... if you wanna get the badge, grinding
regular mobs around ogri'la is like grinding for a world drop.

Personally, I'd go do sethekk halls/steamvaults until dinging 70, then do all the
quests in nagrand, blade's edge, shadowmoon and netherstorm, that is a _lot_ of
cash when you do them at 70, and many are done quite fast.

Start doing the orgi'la dailies, and once you're honored study the Legion Ring
event (Shartuul). Read tactics and watch videos and other people do it.
Best way to start off is to get a Crystalforged Darkrune, a Darkrune, 5 Darkrune
Fragments and a Kronk's Grab bag, you learn it faster by doing more tries in a row
than once a week.

Here is a good link that helped me a lot:
http://avatarsofdiscord.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4046

I also have found it immensely helpful to macro a few of the abilityes so that I
can hotkey them (I believe it was '/click PetAttackButton1' if I am not
mistaken, change the number for corresponding ability), and also since I use
Bartender3 addon, scale up the pet bar so it is large and visible.
Might not be needed for standard UI tho.

Also bring a good bunch of Charged Crystal Focii, they drop randomly and are
also sometimes on AH.

I had no help in the beginning, so I did maybe 10 tries before I made it,
but once you get the hang of it, you can farm it regularily.
Every now and then you get a nice item you can sell, maybe the Ring of the
Overseer or of course the badge. I got mine on the third kill.
Still farming it tho, hoping for some cash boost for epic flyer :)

If you are still not happy about this idea and rather would grind, I rather
recommend like other before me to grind primals. Nagrand, Shadowmoon or
Netherstorm. Primal Air usually sells best on my server.

I have killed quite a large amount of mobs around ogri'la and in the forge
camps, and in my experience nothing valuable ever drops. Some greens ofc, but
mostly crap.

However if you got skinning, make sure you visit the northern forge camp (Wrath)
for any demon business, there are a lot of skinnable dogs, and many people
just kill, loot and move on leaving the corpse up for taking (or more precisely
skinning :P).

Good luck in your endeavours.

I got lucky and had a Deleted Badge drop off a mob while I was helping one of my guild Enchanters farm the +40 Spellpower enchant. I found it a bit odd that the badge dropped off something that was kinda nowhere near Ogri'la, but I wasn't complaining. 50 shards and a few months later (don't ask), it became part of my tank set.
