Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation vs. Grips of DeftnessFollow

#1 Dec 19 2007 at 6:18 AM Rating: Decent
I've got both, and after doing a quick calculation comparing expertise to agility (in terms of damage to L73 bosses), they seem similar'ish.

Any suggestions on which to use because of one stat or another? Which are you guys using?

(Feral druid, offtank - mostly catform, typical 0/47/14 build)

The big difference there is the Expertise rating on the grips.
If you are already have +9% through hit rating from other gear then use the gloves for dps, but if you are still below 99% chance to hit then the grips would be better.

For tanking I would just stick with the gloves.

Agree on 100%.

Sorry guys - slight error there.

Expertise affects the chance to be dodged & parried, not the chance to hit. They are separate. So unless you have hit the expertise cap, then expertise is always good. Note, for lvl 73 bosses you need 91 points of expertise rating to hit the expertise cap vs 142 hit rating to reach the hit cap.

Having said that, I would take the Gloves of Dextrous Manipulation. With 2x 8Agi gems, you get :-

51 Agi & 42 AP = 2.04% crit & 93AP (G of DM)

29 Agi & 60 AP & 15 Exp = 1.16% crit & 89AP & 0.833% less chance to be parried or dodged (G of D)

Seeing that most of the time we are DPSing from behindm the parry chance is irrelevent, it comes down to 0.88% & 4AP vs 0.833% chance to be dodged. Pretty close, but I feel that Dextrous Manipulation wins out. Incidently, Emmerald's list agrees.

You can also use Toskks Feral DPS Gear Methodology over at the druid wiki site.
