As a 17/44/0 Fury warrior is there any specific weaponsmithing style (mace/sword/axe) which is better than another? I know this might have been asked before but just wondering where I should start with gearing my warrior.

I spent a lot of gold leveling blacksmithing in order to get the Lunar Crescent, only to find out that after 2.3 I can get the better S1 Arena 2h axe with honour points.

Given my experience I would say save you money training blacksmithing and grind honour instead. As for the choice of mace, sword or axe... I understand that the procs on a sword or mace are better than an axe but I will let someone who has done the maths to come back with which is better.

Mace is better for both PvP and PvE. The 1H line of maces are amazing for fury DPS because of the haste proc on them. You're really not looking at having any real upgrades for the line until Hyjal/BT level content, so maces are a safe bet. Not to mention with maces also comes the possibility of the Skillherald.

on the topic of the skillherald, its still a very viable weapon for season 3 arena if you so choose to go that route. the stun proc and its slower natural speed makes it better for pvp combat than any other mace in game, and its damage is only a few points lower than the S3 weapons (i think). it lacks the hit and resilience of the arena weapons, but makes up for it with raw stats and the awesome proc.

As fury ... definitely Mace;

I took the advice of many on this board and ditched my Planar Edge in favour of the Drakefist Hammer ... will be upgrading it to the Dragonmaw in due course.

All I can say (specifically to RPZip and DeviousUser), thanks guys, best move I made. The haste proc is awesome, when that thing goes off, I get so much rage, I can essentially spam any and every ability I have to generate damage ... it's amazing.

As for the loss of stats, I've quickly and easily replaced them pretty much entirely already through the use of some nifty gem choices and an enchant or 2.

As far as PvP is concerned, you could go for the 2 handed maces, which are the best for that purpose. If you have the wherewithall, you can craft yourself one of each, and have a 2 hander for some burst damage (pretty decent burst damage at that), or pop on the 1 hander and see those numbers fly all around your screen.

Sweeping strikes, whirlwind, flurry x 5 and the Haste proc, makes 3 to 4 mobs drop simultaneously ! (and before you go off at me, I know the haste proc doesn't affect the Whirlwinds, but with the ww numbers flying AND now the increased attack speed making the white numbers fly to, there isn't much space on my screen for much else, other than damage numbers).

The proc is up pretty much once a fight, sometimes twice, and sometimes, I'm really lucky and it procs at the beginning of the fight, those fights don't last long though ;-)

For the record, when Flurry x 5 is up and the haste proc kicks in, my 2.7 speed mace becomes a 1.9 speed, and my 1.5 speed off hand drops to 1.09 !
