Hey.. Whats a good pet??

No, i'm kidding, but i would like to know on why Blizzard decided take some skills out of the pet when you tame them. An example would be DeathFlayer, a rare scorpid that until some patch, had his/her/its attack speed reduced from 1.6 and 2.0. And i'm sure theres others like that pet that does shadow damage before that was fixed. Wouldn't Unique pets with special attributes diversify the hunter pet selection even more?

All pet speeds were normalised to 2.0 a while back. Making the basics of each pet and/or species the same actually makes for more diverse pets though. Back when certain pets had faster attack speeds and such, almost every hunter at a level high enough to train that beast would use it as their pet.

With the set up now, people choose different pets for their own reasons and train them how they prefer. Players can use talents in the Beast Mastery talent tree to increase pet damage and attack speeds, if they choose. There is, in fact, pet diversity out there because of the normalising changes. Strangely enough.

I still hear Hunter say "OMG Blizz ruined the game when they nurfed the pets!". And it still annoys the fUckin' crap out of me. And every time, I have to sit down and explain how this opened up for more than just two or three pets for those who like diversity. Before this normalization, we were stuck with Broken Tooth for cat pets. That was it, really, if we wanted to stay competitive.

At least now I can tame something of a certain family and know that I can keep that skin, because any other of the same family would have the same skills/attack speed/attack power.

I laugh at it, honestly. Simply because of my background of MMOs.

I came from FFXI, and I decided to play the "worst" dps class of them all. Dragoon. Why were they the worst? Because they nerfed Penta Thrust. You don't know how often I heard it. "OMG they penta nerf makes DRG suxxors"...

They nerfed penta before the game was even released in the US, players were still complaining about it. You just started playing 2 minutes ago and you know how great DRGs were before the nerfed it, how? Seriously I wouldn't be suprised if people still were complaining about how it was nerfed, I heard it so much.

So now I just laugh at people who complain about nerfs that happened ages ago. Some people just have a hard time letting go of the past.

Ain’t it the truth!

I agree that normalization was overall a good thing. I’m just highly annoyed at Blizzard for not finishing the job. It’s like Blizzard started construction on a new strip mall. They finished a few of the shops, but many of the shops are still missing their roofs and the construction equipment has been sitting idle for over a year, rusting in the rain.

I constantly see posts, mainly on the OBoards, complaining about how Blizzard doesn’t care about class X, Y or Z. But in my opinion this is one example where I would agree it’s true. Blizzard has done a lot of good things for our class. But they just don’t seem to care about our pets. I understand having to prioritize, but when something is left half finished for this long its no longer a mater of prioritizing, it’s a case of abandonment.

As nice as the attack speed normalization was for the diversity of the hunter community, I was reall disappointed with the fact that Bliz nerfed special damage pets like Lupos.

Normalizing the pets BASE stats is the best thing they could have done, but taking out the "special-ness" of the rare tameable spawns was....well just not cool.

I would like to see more rare tameable pets that have special abilities other pets don't have, but that aren't necessarily better just different. Like Lupos getting his shadow damage back but not being able to do Furious Howl, or a cat with an attack that can cause a bleed effect. The special attach/ ability would just take a spot in 4 "active" pet abilities.

I have otehr ideas, but i'll just leave it at that for now, lemme know what you guys think.

All I want, is for each pet family, to have one or two abilities that are limited to only it and maybe one other family.

Also, give those sporebats *something* other than growl and cower!

Not many people knew about Lupos until Petopia, because people thought that he did less damage, as the mobs around him had shadow resist.

BT? When ZG came out, all the hunters in my guild had the bat, and right until the release of BC, I was using a wolf for raiding.

And those serpents in ZF I never saw, like ever, everyone always talked about them, and how people had them in BGs and I was so pissed, but then again, I had oen of those old epic mounts before they were reskinned, so I was happier.
