Sword Spec, what stats for MHFollow

I know that when using a sword/dagger combo one should put the highest end damage sword in MH, with a fast dagger for poison procs.

However, I am switcxhing over to sword spec soon and was wondering if the same rule applies.

I.E. Legionairre's Sword + The Butcher

My instincts would lead me to put The Butcher in MH for its high end damage, but it is faster than the Legionairre's.

What is the general rule for sword spec rogues?

Correct me if I'm wrong[Hint: I'm Not] but isn't The Butcher a Main Hand only weapon?

So, I guess your instincts were right in the end. ^_^

The "general rule" is to put a fast sword in your offhand and a slower sword in your main hand. You want high DPS on both.

You benefit from the slower weapon in MH because instant attacks (sinister strike, sword spec iirc, riposte) all use MH damage to some extent.

The fast weapon in your OH gives you more chances for combat potency to proc, more chances for sword spec to proc (uses MH), and more chances for poison to proc.

This "slow MH" stuff is an over exaggeration. It is worded because generally the slower the weapon the higher the damage. There are certain cases where this just is not true. At that point you look at the damage directly and make your decision based on that.

Hope this helps.

Just Follow http://shadowpanther.net/rogueweapons.htm generally.

The table will tell you which weapon is better for you.

Higher DPS doesn't means better.
Example:
Spite Blade dps:87 > Hope Ender dps:89
Drakefist dps:84 > S1 Mace dps:91
Blackout Truncheon dps:68 > High Warlod's Bonecracker dps:71

Nope....the high damage sword has to go in your main hand because special attacks(ss-which is based on top damage + whatever u'r rank is) bypass the weapon speed and are instant. The fast weapon goes in your off hand for poison procs and ,more important, combat potency + sword spec procs.

His point was that it has nothing to do with the weapon's speed, except indirectly. Two weapons, both with the same DPS but different speeds... well, the slower one will always have a higher average damage. But you can have a faster weapon with more DPS have a higher average damage than a slower one with less DPS, so going off speed alone is misleading. It's a good rule of thumb, but you need to make sure you're actually checking your weapons.

Exactly.

Speed plays a part in the Off-hand for procs, poison, potency, etc. It does not play a part in the main hand. The main hand you want to look at the dmg (not the dps).

Do not turn a main hand weapon down because it's faster. Look at the dmg, if it's higher and faster that is better.

Well....that was my point too...max dmg weapon in main hand.DPS can be misleading in this case.

And in the same level bracket there are not many main hand weapons that have both a high max dmg and a low speed.Usually in 10 levels u can change u'r main hand 2 or 3 times and u usually do it based on the max dmg and less on the speed.

Maybe my post was a bit unclear:(.
