Rested vs NormalFollow

I have noticed something since the last patch that I am curious about. It seems I stay rested the entire time I am questing. I had been in the Hinterlands and there would be an arrow or marker on my XP gauge. Now, since the last patch, I have been questing in Feralas and that marker is gone, staying rested from start of game to finish.

My question is this: were there changes to the rested/normal states for easier leveling? is it tied to physical damage and not time played? I am pure fire and roast many mobs well before they touch me or do any serious damage. It seemed before it was based upon time played but that longer appears be the case.

If someone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. Could have already been said, since I had read that leveling would be easier from now on. Regardless, I am enjoying the nice blue colour on my XP gauge!

Thanks & Happy Holidays everyone

As far as I know, you can only have a certain amount of rested XP. Quest XP pushes your rested bar back, it doesn't take it. So if you've completed lots of quests, it's possible that you just haven't burned up your rested bonus.

Rested xp is awarded for killing mobs. When you kill a mob, you get double the normal xp. Quests and bonus xp you gain from exploring a new area don't get the bonus.

If your marker is not visible, that just means it's waiting for you on the next level. The maximum rested xp you can have is 10 days' worth and since you gain 1 bar of rested xp for every 8 hours of resting inside an inn or city (or 1 bar for 32 hours outside) you can have up to 30 bars (7.5 bars if you've been sleeping outside).

As far as I know, there have not been any changes in the last 12 months. I can't say beyond that time.

Thanks! I didn't know about the 30 bar max. That is probably what it is. After being away for 10 days & resting in an inn, maybe that was what did it. I went from 4% through 70% toward lvl 50 and no marker appeared and I am not complaining.

Cheers!

yeah that's definitely what it is. I had my rogue rested in an inn for almost 2 days and it's practically about 75% of the way to the end of my xp gauge (without any xp filled because I just levelled).
