Im specced prot, aoe talents included (BoSanc, reckoning, etc.) Is there any need for me to use sword and board or should i use two-hander? Im lvl 37 and at 39 i can use Mograine's Might. Also, if im considering staying at 39 for a while for PvP, should i go ahead to respec to ret once i hit 39? Opinions are very welcome.

If you're serious about PvPing for a bit, respec away from protection. Holy lets you heal and ret lets you so some damage, but you are pretty much hopeless in PvP when prot specced. You damage output is terrible and your heals are gimped, the only thing you have going for you is you take a while to kill (not that long if 2 or 3 enemies start wailing on you tho).

It's a shame, I would love to do more PvP but as a prot specced tankadin who doesn't have the time or money for constant respecs there really is no point. It's an exercise in frustration\boredom.....

It depends on what you are doing I guess. It's been a LONG time since I was in that level range, and I was Ret then, but I'd say if you are kiling things one at a time use a good 2H, but if you can round up multiple things at once, do that, and use sword/board. Also if you are going to tank any instances, sword/board no question asked.

As for 39 PvP: a Paladin is a beast at that level. I'd imagine, though I don't know for sure, that a Prot Paladin at 39 would be much more viable then a Prot Paly is at 70. Though if you wanna be a real monster in PvP, spec Ret at 39 and mash faces in!

There's almost no point to leveling prot if you aren't going to aoe grind. If you want to use a 2-hander when leveling up, then respec ret. You can still tank if you'd like with a sword-and-board, and you can enjoy solo-targeting mobs.
