Resilience vs. StamFollow

I asked yesterday about pentration vs. hit. The question I have today is about Resilience vs. Stam. I do a lot of BG's and we have started doing arenas with my guild. I have the full gladiator set as of today. (I got in before the restart) Should I go for even more resilence with the gem slots or go for stam? My initial thought was the more stamina the better, but since resilence will lessen the crit and dot damage I've changed my mind. What do you guys think?

Get your arena gear... it has BOTH +stam and resilience. In the absence of resilience, go with just stam until you have enough points to buy xxx arena gear to replace it. Also, if you do a lot of BGs, see if you can buy the season 1 arena gear with your BG points.

Did you read his post? He has the honor point s1 gear.

Looks to me like the OP is asking about how to gem, not wich gear to get.

Gem your blue slots with stam gems of course!

Gem the rest with the +4resil/+6 stam gems.

In this way you raise your survivability in two ways.

I think most people go shoot for at least 300 resilience, so I would try to gem for that and 10k+ hp. I have yet to arena (I know, shame on me), but that is what I understand.

As a Frost Mage in Arenas you don´t realy need obscenes numbers of Resilience since you are the last one to be hit. People simply hate to focus on us because of our ways to scape. Of course they will kill us after a time, but the effort to do that is not worth it...your partner(s) will always look much more viable to kill than you (Block, Barrier, Nova, Blink, Frostbite, Pet's Nova, Cold Snap...).

That been said, what you need to do well on PvP is balance your stats. The Resilience on your Gladiator gear (I mean, with Wand and Staff/Main hand) and Vindicator is enogh for the resilience, you will get something near 400...wich is a realy nice number (in the gems, put +sta/dmg on the blue/red sockets and +crit/dmg on the yellow sockets that makes the bonus be worth it, if you realy think Sta/Res is necessary to put on a Socket, you can choose the +10/8 Res or res/sta on the yellow sockets). Then, you just need to get near 10k HP and something like 850+ spl dmg. Actualy, I'm switching some Stamina for Spl Dmg 'cause people realy don´t kill us first...or we are CCed/mana drained, or we are just left behind (bad choice if they do that).

10k hp unbuffed is basically the new standard.
350+ res is basically standard in arena.
800+ spelldamage is needed to kill people in an acceptable time frame.

Check out the +10 res gem from halaa, the +12 spelldamage pvp gem, and the +6 stam +5 damage gems, +12 stams if you're low on hp.

If you don't play with a healer though, I'd probably get some more stam.

EDIT: You will NOT be the last one to get hit, you'll find yourself becoming more and more of a target if your rating goes up, mages are easier to kill then a lot of other classes if there's a priest to (mass) dispell. Good teams won't allow you to have any buffs at all if you're being focused upon, all we have is blink, coc and about 2 seconds of ice block if things really go wrong.
