I know that the hunter's PvP gear is absolute crap for PvE, but how does the Warrior gear fare? Is it really all you need or should I start rackin up extra sets of armor for that.

I am just saying in general. DPS or Tanking.

Only as a filler. Do not make it your entire set.

and DPS (I don't think there is any PvP tanking gear).

Yeah I expected as much. I thought they might consider it good enough due to the stam and armor. Didn't look to much into the actual armor stats themselves though.

hunter pvp gear is not absolute crap for pve.. they still have their values in pve. as for war.. you need a lot more than just stam, armor and resil to tank high end contents.

just my 2 cents

You can def get some good mileage out of PVP gear for tanking.
I have:
Merc Glad Shield Wall: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32045;source=live
Glad Shoulder's: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=24546;source=live

I want to add:
Vengeful Plate Chest: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=33728;source=live

The armor and stamina are fantastic.
As long as they don't drop you below 490 def there is no reason not to. And if you get these pre-kara they are the best items for those slots (actually Vengeful are the best...but you get the drift).
You will tank alot of content before you upgrade those.

Cheers!

Thanks. I am still trying to decide if I should let my friend be the tank while I DPS or if I should cross back over that line. If I do return to Prot I am gonna use the 7/5/49.

Where is ur one other point going to go in the Arms tree? Of course there's going to be 5/5 Parry, and then I believe you should throw 3 points into Imp TC, making your build 8/5/48 =)

Certain pieces are quite good, but primarily they're focused on DPS over tanking. That's not universally true, though... the Shields in particular can be exceptionally good. The S3 Shield is the best shield you can see until the Kaz'Rogal shield, for example, simply because of the Armor and Stamina, and the other shields are worth looking into depending upon what other shields you can acquire.

For DPS, look at each piece individually. As a general rule S2 is superior to T4 and S3 is superior to T5 (or equivalent pieces, although the Honor pieces tend to be decently worse than equivalents depending upon which one you look at), but that isn't universally true. On the flip-side, though, the S1 BP is a very nice pickup since the T4 BP is relatively difficult to acquire (Magtheridon) and even then is a rather minor upgrade, so... there is no hard and fast rule, just guesswork and then looking at each piece side by side and figuring out which once you want to get.

I used the season one shield all the way up to Gruul and replaced it then.

But imo, thats the only useful PVP piece for tanking. cause of the high armor and stamina as RPZip wrote.
