Experimental Elementalist Experience (Frost/Fire build)Follow

#1 Dec 18 2007 at 6:45 AM Rating: Decent
I just created this build. The idea was for it to be designed purely around criticals, and using a combination of Frost and Fire talents and spells to output tons of damage through frequent crits.

So, here it is. I've never used a build like this before, so tell me what you think.

That's an elemental build. Loads of fun in AV when you use 'recall' on your frostwolf trinket to hearth home and do a frost nova -> BlastWave -> AE spam till dead. It puts you way up top on the 'most annoying' list.

Not great for raiding as you lose some good damage talents in the fire tree and you won't be using frostbolt too often, so the frostbite talents are wasted. For better PvP, I'd go deep frost. ;-)

Oh, I know it's called "elemental build". That's why the topic has that name; it's also "E3". =P

The idea was that I'd use Frostbolt to at least slow my target, and then start casting Fire spells while they move-or if they're frozen, I get some nice, massive crits-, then Frost Nova, Flamestrike or Blast Wave, Blink away, Fire spell, Frostbolt, repeat.

And if I were to get a bunch of +crit gear that might make it even more effective...no?

What do you want to use this for?

As ktangent mentioned if it is for raiding there are much more damaging/effective/efficient builds to use over an elemental build, but pvp they can be good though, although for arenas full frost still stands tall as far as I know.

Also, if you plan on using frostbolt why not take the improved one and cut a half second off of your cast time?

What's the purpose of this build? I'll comment from a pvp perspective, since elemental builds are down right bad in pve.

I'd prefer a 30/31 spec for ice barrier, but even if you want it fire-heavy like this, there's some missing key talents.

You took the worst talent in the fire tree over the best talent, you need burning soul, noone needs imp flamestrike, because noone uses the skill.

I'd personally get imp scorch, since that'll be your main source of damage, and extra damage is always nice.

Frost warding is a near-worthless talent aswell, I'd get imp fb.

Get ice block and cold snap.

But really, if you want to do a lot of damage, either spec deeply in one tree, or spec deeply in arcane with at least 20 points into fire or frost.
