(and anyone else who can help)

You mentioned getting 6k crits on SBs. HOW?!

Even if (when) I get my +sp dam to over 1k I'll not come close to 6k crits.

What am I missing?

you are missing the right specc.

it would be a destruction specc which puts out these kinda crits.

ta daaaaa:

sacrifice your succu, of course.

You need ruin for sure and probably shadow and flame. That makes 40 points into destruction. I used to have a 0/40/21 build where my SBs would crit at 4000, but never as high as 6000, though I'm sure it could be done.

as destro my SB crits get easily around the 7k.
your +spellhit +crit and yur +dmg is really low for such a specc.
better stick with affliction.

Yeah, I've got ruin and SnF, I run about 1350+ shadow in raids and the other night I had an 8k+ SB crit. Get ruin.

I popped 7.8k once in a raid. I wish I took a screenie, I was just too busy jumping up and down in my chair in excitement Smiley: smile

Yeah, Ruin works, SnF is sortof in between, but needed.

hehe a few month back i did a 10k SB on Magtheridon while he was in banishphase and it was all silent in Teamspeak until i shouted something like:

YES, a 10k Shadowbolt, MWAHAAAHAHA!!

I am kinda stuck to demonology these days since i am the fool tanking leotheras, and 100g respeccing every week is kinda tough on our guildbank.
Sucks especially on a´lar being demo specced, but beside that it works really damn fine. Due to the mad +spelldamgage you get being specced Demo my CoD does impressive dmg...sometimes around 13k.

As everyone above me has pointed out you need this spec (or something similar at least) to get those huge crits. I'm rocking ~1300 Shadow damage in raids as Felguard spec (yes, yes, I know - not optimal) but fully buffed and with an SPriest in the raid the highest I have hit is just under 5k. I'm waiting to max my +hit before I try the 0/21/40 build. Can't wait to see a nice string of 6-8k crits :D

there is absolutely no shame in being specced raid-demo it is perfectly viable in a ssc/tk enviroment except maybe on a´lar. and you don´t need the max +spellhit of 202 to start raiding as destro. something around the 170ish would be okay for starters.

Unfortunately Sethy has some PC trouble atm :( It indeed depends on the spec. Going from 50 to 100% crit bonus helps a lot on putting out big numbers. She also uses consumables (wizard oil, spelldamage food and adapt elixir).
Teammates can give you some nice boosts, especially shadow priests (10% + 5% damage) and shamans (Wrath of Air Totem 101 +dmg).

Yes it is.
Improved immolate, conflag & emberstorm?
Unless you're a fire warlock that's 11 wasted talent points.

Right. So.

As affliction, my 1.8k crits are perfectly acceptable then? Given my current lack of sp dam of course...

well, tbh without getting alot more +dmg you shouldn't even be thinking of trying to get 6k crits. the only way you could get close to that is a 0/21/40 build and tbh, without doign the maths i still seeing you do about 5k max. i hit like 1.3k damage in raids and on a fully debuffed boss i still average 7-7.5k crits with 8-8.5k maxes if i have T4 2set and trinket up (pushes me to near 1.6k damage)

tbh, worry about getting your hit and +dmg up. after that the crits will start to come and once you get more crit rate you could even spec dest.

Thanks, Jen.

It's not that I WANT to hit them - I just wondered why I was SO MUCH below them. If it's a Destro crit, fine, I can live without it. If it was just that I'm lacking some 600 sp dam, then I was confused as to how that little could increase my crit by as much as 4k!

I DO need to increase my +hit, +dam and +crit. But as I'm unlikely to raid any time soon, it's +dam I'm focussed on.

I think this is about how I did it. ***** Emberstorm, I never conflag in PvE, but it provides a decent punch in PvP.

i´d rather specc 10% more firedamage for Immolate than 5% mana off...

this us doing A´lar, I specced destro for fun and for better damage of course.

Immolate and Shadow Bolt are freaking expensive. 5% more mana efficiency means 5% fewer life taps. I'm such an efficiency *****.

yeah all dmg meters are. but recount is really accurate.

on a sidenote:

GM response is really slow these days.
Our lootmaster assigned the boots of shifting nightmare http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=30050

wrong and it took them full 6 days to assign them to me...man..,but
i am one happy lock now, need to get them enchanted...not today though.

Congrats.
I used to want those but they didn't want to drop so another warlock got them the only time I wasn't there ^^
I got my boots of blasting the next raid though, so I'm not complaining :)
