Dual DruidsFollow

A friend and I had been playing a pally/warrior combo on my server for a while now (me tanking him healing), and we thought it would be fun to change it up and have him tank and I heal. So we went on his server and rolled two druids. Now, we're planning on doing 90% instances starting with RFC (which we do on the warrior/pally as prot/holy), but with druids we have slightly more versatility in that we can have a feral and a caster - he can DPS in cat or tank in bear, and I can DPS in moonkin/caster or heal in tree/caster. This way if we got a holy priest or prot pally joining the group, they can do what they're designed to do, while we DPS.

So for builds, he's going feral (obviously) and I'm looking at starting balance and working into a dreamstate build. I'd pick up the DPS talents to help us go faster early on, where speccing for an instance doesnt really matter. And since the dreamstate build is considered viable at 70 as a nuke/heal hybrid (which is what I will be for a while anyway) I think it's a good idea.

The purpose of this thread? Do YOU guys think it's a good idea?

There's no real need to have one druid act as a tank with low damage and one druid act as a healer with low damage.

My suggestion? Well if you like casting, obviously Balance is the way to go, with a heal tossed to him every few fights. And I'd recommend your friend stay in Cat Form, Bear Form is a bit of a loss rather than a gain while grinding. Basically, have both of you do damage. No need for a mini-party setup.

Until Outland, maybe circumstances will change, and a Tank & Damage/Healer combo could work out perfectly.

Good luck leveling, and Druid is a bit of a weird class to master, but eventually you'll get the hang of it if you're determined and become teh uber leet.

Honestly i would go dual feral for lvling. Grinding you'll burn down things really fast, and you can still get a set of healing gear for grouping. I healed as a feral all the way into outlands, its pretty easy just keep your gear decent. Not saying balance/feral wouldn't be a good combo though, it's all a matter of taste really.

I'd both go feral until 40 or so then decide. Just one of you gets priority on heal loots and the other gets priority on feral stuff. Either way you will both probably end up with good feral & resto gear.

All this talk of leveling druids has me itching to level my bank alt who is going to be a druid. I'm not leveling him till I get all my other 70's done. (Druid, Hunter & Mage done, Priest 58, Shammy, Paladin, Rogue, Lock & Warrior between 20-40) with the new leveling speed though it shouldn't take long. My priest went from 53-58 yesterday in about 6 hrs play! SO much faster than it used to be!

Well, for grinding we can do caster/moonkin nuking and cat form, then for instances (which will take up 80-90% of our combat) we will be hitting up healer and tank if we need to.

We plan to do instances a lot, mainly because it's easy to find a group if you got a tank and a healer capable of doing stuff.

And if I'm always caster and he's always melee, we wont fight over gear.

what me and my friend done which two druid was to spec both to feral which a bit of healing (for lvling)
and in instances one heals while the other dps/tanks and when the heals mana gets low switch roles, that way you get 2x the mana for healing :)

worked great with us

I agree that you should both go feral with one of you taking priority on the healing gear. That will help you for grinding as well because you won't have to wait on mana for your balance build. Even in Outland a fellow druid and I (both feral) can take most 3 man quests by just swapping aggro. He starts to tank while I dps until he needs healing and then I'll heal and dps until OOM. Then I switch to bear, growl, and continue tanking while he does dps and heals.

With an innervate available every 2.5 minutes, the moonkin will never run out of mana ;) A dps caster + feral druid = win.

Me and my wife leveled as feral duid + shadow priest, both dpsing down everything in our path, with the option of swithching to tank + healer for those pesky 5-man quests that we most of the time duoed.

Plus, he has a very good point about not sharing the same type of gear.

For most people, the bulk of their gear while leveling comes from quest rewards anyway, so the gear isn't too much of an issue.

The fastest by far will be dual ferals. Many mobs will be dead before you could even get a starfire off anyway :) The mana can be spent on heals in between fights and you will have zero downtime.
