39 TwinkFollow

#1 Dec 17 2007 at 11:49 AM Rating: Excellent
So, I was thinking I got a few weeks before school starts up again. Maybe I could start up again until I have to go back to school. I don't have much interest in playing my 70 anymore until the expansion, so I was thinking of making a 39 twink. Here's my gear choices: (complete with stats and enchantments)

Slot | Item ARM | STR | STA | AGI | INT | SPI | CRT | AP | HP | HST
Head | Raging Berserker's Helm 213 13 8 14
       -Arcanum of Rapity 10
Shld | Herod's Shoulder 196 6 15
Chst | Polished Jazeraint Armor 270 9 10 17
       -Exceptional Health 150
Wrst | Ironayas Bracers ot Bear 165 7 7
       -Brawn 12
Legs | Scarlet Leggings 233 20 10
       -Nethercobra Leg Armor 12 50
Hand | Gauntlets of Divinity 168 7 32
       -Major Strength 15
Feet | Ancient Greaves ot Bear 168 9 8
       -Fortitude 12
Wast | War Champion's Belt 147 15 6
Back | Cabalist's Cloat ot Bear 29 7 6
       -Greater Agility 12
Neck | Sentinel's Medallion 7 11
Rng1 | Aquamarine Signet ot Bear 8 7 20
Rng2 | Protector's Band 8 5 8
Weap | Pendulum of Doom 70
       -Savagery
Tkt1 | Tidal Charm: Stuns for 3-Seconds
Tkt2 | Insignia of the Alliance
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                               1589 129 108 31 0 17 26 172 150 10

After all that, considering the base racial stats for a lvl 39 Paladin, I've decided that making a Dranei would probably be the most effective in PvP, and this would be his (or her) stats:

Health: 2467
Mana: 1695
AP: 685
Crit%: 13.6%
DPS: 90.1
Swing timer: 4 seconds (less due to the haste, but I dunno how much 10 haste rating gives at 39).
Average Damage per Swing: 360

I dunno about you guys, but that looked pretty sexy to me at level 39.

And this was going to be the spec that I was looking at.

I'd like to hear from you guys, tell me if there's any gear or enchantments that I didn't think of. Also, I figured Engineering would probably be my best bet as far as professions are concerned, so advice towards that end would be nice.

Looks good CapJack. Engineering is lots of fun in pvp with such devices as the gnomish death ray.

I'd offer to help you get the items, but I doubt you want to make a twink on a RP server =)

You can come to Bloodhoof Jack ;) Though, I'll be off for at least a week, maybe 2. I might convince myself to cut my break short or I'll miss Wintervale >.<

Haha…very subtle. You’re welcome to come to Duskwood. My alts are in a 39 twink guild and we would be happy to have you. We absolutely own too, it’s fun.

Although I think it may be easier to roll on you current sever so you can bakroll your twink...

What battlegroup are you in?

Well, I would invite you to Illidan, except it's a PVP server and I roll horde side.

If you change your mind and decide to roll BE, look up any of the characters in my sig, or look up Oxymoronic, my new BE Tankadin.

Engineering is a must. Shuffle your trinkets with cooldowns between the AB shield trinket and the good old Insignia and you will grow.

Use stun bombs and you grow even more. Engineering is THE thing I like best in WoW. SO much FUN!
#9 Dec 18 2007 at 6:44 AM Rating: Excellent
I found a trinket that drops off a rare mob that stuns the enemy for 3 seconds when used, I thought that might help a good amount.

My main is a BE. So if I made a Dranei, which I want to do, I would be fundless.

The biggest problem by far is obtaining the Pendulum of Doom. Man that is a ****** droprate only in Uldaman. I farmed that instance inside out to get one dropped, gave up, started farming again a month later, gave up again and finally see one pop up in the AH for a measly 80g! (which means for free for this baby)

Gave it to my 39 enhancement shammy though, who happens to LOVE it.
#12 Dec 19 2007 at 7:59 AM Rating: Excellent
Yeah, I noticed that... I'm not looking forward to it. I might have to make another char who can farm that instance to try to get it or who can get to a higher level so that I can get money. Of course that means more time.... I probably won't get alot of this done until Summer. School starts up again Jan. 7th, so I'll probably play until then.

I decided to go with Duskwood, and I made a char named Capjack so it should be easy enough to identify me. So add me chood and when you see me on send me a whisper.

Cool will do...

OK now that I know you are serious here are some gear suggestions:

Worn Running Boots

Tripprunner Dungarees

Shadowskin Gloves

Fleshhide Shoulders

Ogron's Sash

I think I had the belt and gloves when i was at that bracket...they are not neccasary, just another option...as long as you are willing to wear leather.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of agilty or crit at that point in the game. I think it detracts too much from my str, which I prefer. Also, I'd rather be in mail as that's my primary mode of defense (I rarely heal if I don't need to). Thanks anyway for the suggestions and I look forward to seeing you on the game. What time do you usually play?

It varies, I've got kids so my schedule revolves around theirs...usually a couple of evenings during the week and then Sundays...

Cap,

I can understand you are not that a huge fan of agi/crit but you should not add AT THAT POINT OF THE GAME. Strength = 2 AP no matter how you get it or at which level but, to remind you, agility and crit (both for the crit obviously) are dependent on level and thus at lower levels you get a lot more out of it. Yes, do get mail stuff if you can, but do not discard agi/crit too easily because it will up your damage a lot (steeper than strength at those levels). At 39, crit through agility is still quite huge.

How are you faring so far? Have you found some gear already/ reached 39 perhaps?

With my schedule I can only get a few hours in here and there, so I doubt I'll hit 39 before I have to start school again. But I might play again during the summer and other breaks. So.. we'll see.

And I'm just going with what works. Stacking STR/AP and STA is what worked for me at those levels and I melted faces. By substituting AGI in, I'm taking away from my base damage, which I'd like to be as high as possible. Sure I might crit a few percent more, but that's not how I roll.

Looking at the strengths and benefits of playing the paladin i think you would have to forgo too many other stats far more valuable to obtain the level of crit/agi where it would become useful. I am not a numbers person, but for a hunter or rogue and even a warrior, crits (eg agi) are a core stats, for the paladin you would have to deviate from things like Stam, Str and even Int.

A paladin with huge hp, and huge str, swinging a freaking slow weapon and having enough int to pull out all the stuns and judgements he can is scaring me a lot more than a pally trying to crit me to death. Of course crits help, but they are not as reliable on a pally as they are on a rogue...

Pendulum is a pain to get, alternatives are few though. Maces will have you end up with Mograin's Mights with a fast swingspeed thus not suited really. Or epic sword like Nightblade with nice dps but fast swingspeed again. Only the Ravager axe comes close if it weren't for the uncontrolable on hit. Only alternatives i see are: X'Caliboar, Sword of the Magistrate or Obsidian Cleaver... All not what you want exactly, but some definitly easier to get and adding in your total HP.

Don't know that much about engineering, but i do know that throwing bombs in pvp can definitly be a fun addition and helpful aswell, esp since pallies lack range attacks as you know.

GL with school and enjoy your low bracket pvp .

Edit: Consider Alchemy/Herb on some toon to support your 39, or buy the damn pots of course. But free action potions and many others will definitly put you up there, considering you got BoF already and a bubble.. add a pot there and you are home drinking hot coffee when the horde come visit begging for coockies.

Cause id rather have the AP/Crit
#21 Dec 26 2007 at 12:24 PM Rating: Decent
i think i agree with cap on this just go with as much str stam as you can if you really need agi that bad you could get the + 12 agi on back i guess (what else could u put there?) but ya 39 paly twink own :D
#23 Dec 31 2007 at 8:35 AM Rating: Good
Nightblade is too fast. Sure it does more dps, but I wanna melt their face in one or two hits, not 4 or 5.
