Holy gearFollow

I'm currently in the process of running the 70 dungeons trying to get a decent holy set (I finally got chestplate of many graces last night on my sixth slabs run). The sticky is fantastic and has been a great help. As it happens, I've run both Bot and Mech once each, and I happened to grab the Helm and Shoulder of the Righteous (pretty lucky). Anyhow, I know they aren't the greatest for healing, but they have decent stats. So, I'm just wondering how viable they will be for a healer. I tend to play in a lot of PUG's, so I get hit a lot, so the added defense and stamina are pretty useful. It sort of matters, because I haven't decided whether or not to spend the money (I'm trying to save for the epic flying) on a meta gem for the helm.

My armory link is: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Draka&n=Rumit
The talent tree is a little messy from when I was leveling. I need to respec but have been holding off spending gold until I get the above-mentioned epic flying mount.

Don't bother trying to get defense and the like. It's the tank's responsibility to ensure that you don't get hit, not yours. Who knows? Maybe if you are in a PuG and you get killed a lot it will inspire the tank to do better... or your group will kick him out. Either way it's win-win, although it's at the expense of your death. But you aren't a tank so you don't have any room to complain about repair bills.

Sure, you should be able to take a punch or two, but that's what your health is for. My advice is run SV until you get the Mask of Penance, and keep the shoulders until you get either of the ones mentioned in the sticky.

Also, looking at your armory your mp5 and crit is a bit low, so try working on that.

Thanks for the reply. I'll probably start trying for the mask of penance soon. It's just a question of priorities. I also need to run Slabs and the Tempest Keep instances to get my Sha'tar and Lower City rep.

I know my crit and mp5 are a little low. I'm still in the process of getting items. I'm hoping to get my Sha'tar rep to revered soon and get the trinket there as well as the pvp ring and gloves which should increase my crit substantially. I also still need to get the +mp5 enchant on my chest (I just got it yesterday and am still waiting for my enchanter friend to do it).

I know I'm not supposed to be getting hit. But, it happens. And, it is one of the real advantages of a pally healer. I can stand in the middle of a group and keep healing myself and others while taking a beating. I've been able to save the group after bad pulls or an unexpected patrol a few times.

It's true that a paladin healer stay alive longer than other healing classes, but it's not going to be due to defense/avoidance. You have to stack on alot of defense and avoidance before you notice any change and that takes away from your other stats as a healer. You're better off getting more AC for damage reduction and if you use your cooldowns(bubble, HoJ) wisely, you should not die before the MT can pick up aggro.

If you need mp5 don't forget to pick up the glyph of renewal from revered HH rep.

Ahh, yes, the glyph. Forgot about that one. I need about 5 more shattered halls runs before I can get that. Hence my need to prioritize.
