Ok ppl. My Rogue is currently level 61. (Just of 62 to those who care, and if you dont, well it is anyways).

I went combat build at level 58 with daggers which worked very well with the PvE. But in regards to PvP, with all these way better geared level 60's it honestly sucked. I was getting ganked bad.

Sick of this I decided to go deep into the sub tree and partly into Assas. At the moment I have been leveling (from 60) with the build and it is working surprisingly well.

Its not AS easy to take on multiple mobs, but can still cause some serious damage. On the plus side I have been taking out lvl 64's, and not ganking them (ie. waiting for the to aggro a mob).

I do wish though that there was a better hybrid build to make a PvP / PvE build, as most other classes have them. Lets flame Blizzard.

Anyway, just wanted to post this as I have met so many Rogues who seem to HAVE to go Combat as its the only good leveling spec.

(P.S. Shadowstep is so awesome. Its all like, "Mage, Where you going? Oh you running away? --- PEWPEW Im behind you, OMG CRIT! Oh sorry..you dead?" ...and thats good).

Thanks for reading guys and some feed-back from your own experiance would be nice!

(my armory - Dishmayhem, Illidan), I too specced away from combat, into 0/12/41 at lvl 62 cause I was bored, and BF and AR weren't melting mobs so well anymore. I have been WRECKING mobs with hemo. Premed is awesome for saving more energy for finishers. Prep has saved me from doing the corpse run many times. This spec rules.

combat is the fastest leveling build... before the huge hemo buff that you will lose soon anyways

the reason? dw spec, blade flurry, and sustained damage
you grind on green level mobs, and just mow through them.... while im sure shadowstep and hemo seem better, they arent in terms of exp/hr

that being said, i leveled 60-70 shadowstep, back when it was stealth only... back when hemo was 100% weapon dmg + 10 debuff (rank 4)

and i did fine, shadowstep sappers are good cc... almost impossible to **** it up, particularly if you distract first then step

rogues have it easy leveling, any build with 2/2 imp ss will level fine, but if you want optimum

cloth armor mobs, 1-2 levels below you, full sword spec, pull 4-5 at a time and burn all your cds, UD for cannibalize since cloth = human or undead

thats how you prime level

Back on my old account I leveled a rogue on the combat tree up to about level 35. At that time I noticed that there was a little something more to the rogue class so I speced into sub. The sheer smashing of classes and mobs made life so much easier. Hemo was amazing, the hits using the skill itself was not too large but being in a group and hemoing the mobs made instance runs cake. Let me remind you this is old school rogueing. Then mutilate came out, and lets just say that stabbing your opponent in the kidneys with poisoned daggers simply blew my mind. And for that reason I value the assassination tree far more. Burst damage should make a comeback. So honestly pick a spec that you enjoy leveling with.

I leveled to 60 as combat swords, but I've been PVPing in AV lately and just respec'd to shadowstep with like 8 in assas. Its pretty sweet, the thing is your sinister strike + hemo damage is weaksauce with daggers compared to swords. It sounds like you've used daggers the whole way, so you just have no idea how hard a mace/fist/sword hits for.

Anyway, for PVP at 60 I'm loving it. Mostly for ambushes which take so much health off a 60, I know at 70 it would be a bad PVP spec. I'm gonna mess around with shadowstep and mutilate at 60 for a long time to come, I might even PVP at 60 until the next expansion comes out.
