Snake trap for shade of aran fight?Follow

#1 Dec 17 2007 at 4:54 AM Rating: Default
Ok quick question. Recently my guild has gotten to the shade of aran fight. but have yet to beat him.

I was wondering that seeings how his attacks are random. wouldnt snake trap be a good option to soak up his fireballs and frost bolts? we have three hunters in the raid at any given time so i figure with that many we could have at least one sprung trap up at all times.

Better option: Have a Rogue or two just kick him when he uses Fireballs and Frostbolts. Let the Arcane go through, since that doesn't take much mana from him. No need for soaking up his damage, if you can avoid it being cast to begin with.

For best results you want 4 interrupts, two for fire and two for ice. If you don't have interrupts good luck, it'll be a brutal fight.

Snake trap is very nice, as he will target the snakes as well for arcane bolts. When we first started kara I would try and put a trap under him every CD as he would target them a lot (5 extra targets, reduces the chance he'll target a player by 1/3). Now we have enough dps and heals to not really worry about it, so we just burn him down. (With interrupts).

if you normally have 3 hunters in your raid, i hope 1 is MM and it will be nice if all use snake traps.
15/25 targets snakes is kinda nice =P
60% chance of noone getting hit by spells that go off.

awsome i was hoping that was the case.. belive it or not our kara composition is kinda strange. for dps we have 3 hunter and 1 druid and a warlock. for tanking we have 2 prot warriors.. and for heals we have 2 priests and one pally.

lol we dont bring rouges or anyone other for that matter.. we simply dont have the numbers yet. but it has not slowed us down so far. we are doing well and i think that these snake traps may just make that shade fight a bit more simple

3 hunters a druid and a lock is kind of lacking options to interrupt spells so that could very well be why you are having problems with shade.

Honestly, I'd rather have 2 locks for the elementals and no interrupts than tons of interrupts and no locks.

You skipped the two Prot Warriors, who both have Shield Bash.

And the other classes have some options as well, even if the cool downs are not terribly favorable:

yeah, but having a shaman and/or a rogue makes it easier.

Never actually tried it as we have enough interupts anyways, but does a hunter's pet *Intimidate* stun him?

Never actually tried this myself tbh

no, intimidate is a stun, and stuns dont work on bosses.

Haven't fought Shade in a while but when my guild used to kill him, I'd watch until he almost had to drink (dropping snake traps up until that point of course), and then drop the trap right before he sat down. He trips the traps, Mass polymorphs the snakes along with the raid, and the snakes take at least 4 -5 pyroblasts off the raid.

The feral Druid S3 gloves give an interrupt to their maim ability which is also highly useful against Aran. My guilds bear tank was loving this a week or 2 ago.

I just tried this trick on Shade last night and I can confirm it works quite well for absorbing some of his spells. Also, another thing is with the hunters improved range, we can now stand in his face and shoot him with out having to worry about running from Blizzard - much easier.
