i am a NE hunter with the ghost cat from darkshore. im wondering if i should keep him at 70 for pvp due to high dps and prowl ability to go along with my shadowmeld, or if i should go with a boar for teh charge, bird, serpent...

any and all input would be helpful, im new to being a hunter, and will accept all help i can get for 70 (spec included)

Various hunter specs can be found in the Hunter FAQ thread at the top of the hunter forum topic list. As for your pet, the cat will work fine. Shadowmeld and cat prowl can work very well for defensive positions you may play in. And a cat with up to date ranks of Claw ability will be a very fine damage dealer for you.

the best thing about a bird is that it will **** your opponents the hell off

Boar and screech based pets seem to be best for pvp. Also Screech based pets are best pve pet, try it for few lvls and you wont ever lvl a hunter without your annoying flappy friend.

edit: by best pve I meant soloing.

Ravager is best group/raid pet.

Won't repeat the good advice you've already received. I will just add that I've read many stories about using spider pets in pvp because some players have a real life fear of spiders and freak out when attacked. Never tried it myself.

For now, I personally prefer my NE with a ghost saber for the reasons you wrote. Shadowmeld, prowl, dash, claw, and high dps = all good, especially on defense. I also have a boar that I leveled along with my kitty but never pvp'd with him.
