Mana TapFollow

Any expert Blood Elves out there use mana tap alot for your priest? Ive been using it, but seems to make no difference, even stackedx3, to my mana pool. I cast it on mobs with mana, then use arcane, and I really see no difference to my mana. I guess I assume that I should be able to somehow get mana from these mobs, but it doesnt seem so. Im certainly doing something wrong....striaghten this noob out, please! Im a level 56 SP, mostly Shadow, with 5 points in Wand Spec, and one point in Martyrdom.
Thanks!

My priest isn't that high but I have a 70 Blood elf Warlock. And to my personal opinion, Mana Tap isn't that great later on. It just slows down your damage, for a less than minimal mana return.

The only good thing about Mana Tap and Arcane Torrent is the quick silence that it gives you.

As Unkempt said, mana tap simply interrupts your damage, and really the only use for it is by casting it once and then using Arcane Torrent to interrupt and silence.

You don't even need to have a charge for Mana Tap to use Arcane Torrent, you can use it with no charges.

at 70 it gives 437 mana with 3 mana taps, which isn't anything =\

It should gain mana as you level, just like the other racial, Consume Magic.
Not sure what the Makers were thinking when they added Mana Tap, since it does not help at all.

Correction: it does gain strength as you level. Sorry about that lol.

Mana Tap is great during the low levels; it's basically a mana pot. But unless you're a rogue, it's useless at the higher levels (rogues have 100 energy max, and their fully charged arcane torrent gives 30 energy, making it an almost free Sinister Strike). For example, my 70 BE rogue still uses mana tap and arcane torrent, but it's already become almost useless on my 25 priest.

My pali is 29 and my wife's priest is also 29 and we use it almost all the time.

I use it to pull mobs to me and she uses it for when she gets close to OOM she can use arcane torrent and get some mana back for healing.

As for end game help... I don't think it will be as effective.

Meh, I am already starting to see a slight loss in the amount of mana I get back when I use it with 3 taps.

I've gone from 35-39 fairly quickly recently on my Belf Priestess and I've used Tap/Torrent a LOT.

especially while running SM, Most of my XP has come from grouping there (It's a chance to heal isntead of DPSing) and keeping Mana taps up has been extremely helpful,

At my level, each tap gives you 94~ MP, thats about half of a heal, or 1 full mind flay. So keeping 3 up at any one time (theres plenty of casters in SM) can get me a heal and a half in while i would usually have been OOM. It also lets me interupt their spam spellcastting and healing, which is useful.

The other Belf ability, Consume magic is also rather useful at these levels, I've sometimes been letting PW:F fade from me and not rebuffing it (if i know i wont pull aggro) and just using Fear ward/That touch ability rank 1 (shadow touch? I forget the name, but it costs 14 mana) and then consuming it striaght away to give me 350 MP for free. Anothere nice bonus when I would have been OOM.

So for leveling 1-39, Mana Tap has been great, I can see it getting more and more useless as I get higher level though.

I'm gonna stop writing now.... This has turned into an essay...

I have a (currently) 66 BE Priest (Disc/Holy spec) and I regularly use mana tap/arcane torrent to get a little mana boost. Even though a few hundred doesn't help a whole lot it gives me enough to cast fade or flash heal when needed.

I enjoy mana tap. Keeping it up isn't hard (3 stack), and it's a good heal or two incase I ever need it. And to those that say that they never need it because their so good, well things happen, and I bet you'll want it then ;).

Wow, I didn't even know that Rogues get anything out of Mana Tap, and 10 energy/tap? That's pretty awesome. I think Blizzard should give us like 2-3% of our mana pull mana per tap. Estimated 10% mana back with 3 taps sounds like a good idea to me.

You can't say that's OP when WoTF is still out there.
