Too much dodge for prince?Follow

Hey guys I'm hopping back onto the tanking band wagon. Right now I'm sitting at 21% dodge and 17% parry along with 14300ish armor and 13700 HP. I could drop my HP by a bit (maybe like 600) and pick up a few more % dodge. Is there a point where dodge is overloaded for a warrior?

Question number two, does dodge add a certain amount of threat? I heard a few people talking about it and if so i might change my tank set up a bit.

Ty and have a good one, I gotta go work graveyards now...yay for rig watch!

Dodge AFAIK does not add threat.

There is no such thing as too much dodge/parry/stam in tanking situations. Your basic questions comes down to avoidance over stamina. Although the vast majority of times I will say stam >>>>>> avoidance for healers and such, prince as well as another 1-2 fights, having high dodge and parry is better. Why? Because prince [especially in stage 2] has a very high attack speed and avoidance gives a lot more in that situation. Your HP, if unbuffed, is more than enough for prince [and the rest of kara]. You can take an HP hit to get more avoidance, but make sure it is worthwhile - don't drop 600 hp to pick up .5% dodge.

As far as tanking sets go, for a threat set get your SBV as high as possible and make sure you have a high rating.

Parry does add some threat, indirectly. When you parry, your attack speed is halved. Giving you 2x dps. Which in tanking gear isn't much, but it's something.

I could swear a parry accelerates your next attack by 70%, which is why it more often than not means you attack instantly, but I have no math to back this up, lol; just something sticking in the back of my mind.

Well, hes saying that your attack speed is increased by 100% so 70% is acually less.

I would be hard pressed to find something I would give up 600 hp for. You have more than enough armor and hp for Prince. Just remember to use consumables (elixir of major agi, elixir of major defense, food buff is how I start and I chug a stoneshield every time its off CD).
I generally end up using Last Stand in phase 2 if it gets ugly and save Shield Wall for phase 3 if I have to reposition Prince through a meteor dude.

Probably more info than you needed, but I was bored.
Cheers!

If your already going through a swing, it may not give you the full 100% speed increase in practice. If you have a 2.6 speed weapon, and your on 2.0 of your swing time, if you parry you should auto attack immediately and start a new swing timer. So your only shaving 0.6 off your attack speed, not the full 1.3.

I've had this happen often enough to notice the trend, with a 1.6 speed weapon, if you parry at the beginning of your swing timer, you'll finish your attack at somewhere less than 1.

Slower weapons obviously get more out of parry than faster weapons... Which is another reason to go for devastate and slow tanking weapons for higher threat situations.

Parry is sexy.

but which is it more advisable to stack (assuming you have enough stam/def)? i did some calculations and it seems that point for point increases to dodge are more efficient than increases to parry.

You shouldn't ever really STACK it. For gearing, dodge and parry take care of themselves most of the time, and you should stack stam. For an secondary avoidance set, you still shouldn't stack either. Stacking defense gives better total avoidance returns than trying to stack an individual stat.

If you lack avoidance and need to choose parry or dodge - dodge is cheaper and more efective.

Still

"Parry is sexy" ^^
