What to do with my hunter now?Follow

Let me preface this post by saying I have been away from the game for about 6 months, so I have missed all the patch material since about June...and I haven't caught up on the new patch changes yet...I am hoping, hoping the game has got better since I left because I have a few friends who really want me to come back...

I have a 70 huntard that I don't know what to do with...I'm decently geared, got my flying mount...but now what? Run pugs for gear? Endless instance grinding bores me, I much prefer PvP. However, you can't seem to compete in battleground/arena PvP without uber-gear. You may own at world PvP, however in BG there is always someone of similar skill who has devoted a lot more time to the game than you. My guild was running instances, but they already have several 70 hunters and rogues who are better geared than me, so I am low down on the invites list.

I tried the instance grind with my shaman pre-xpac, and that is what got me leveling alts in the first place. Running the same instance over and over for some stupid set-piece drop with a drop % less than 10% is boring as hell. I made hunter and rogue alts so that I could enjoy PvP...However, event that gets tiresome because there is always some twink farmer who has way more money and resources than you...

WoW is a fun game, but I feel unless they add something to it beyond the endless grind aspect to get gear and items it may be over sooner than we think. I would really like to see them set up some form of "naked" pvp, where all players duel with some standard gearset for each class. This would really determine which player is skilled, and who is not.

Armory link would help to see your current gear.

What do you want to do?

If it is pvp then you'll just have to suck it up and hit the BGs and lose your 10 games/week in the arena for a while to get the gear upgrades.

If you want to progress into endgame pve then you'll have to suck it up and run some instances to gear up.

One way or the other you're gonna have to do something to get somewhere.

I have a fairly new level 70 myself. Here are some words of wisdom.

You must do endless pvp/instances to raid

Raiding=fun

You are going to have to suck it up and do it, this is an awkward stage in the game and you must move past it.

reminds me of playing EQ back in the day. Rangers, who could be powerful end-game players, had a barren place from around lvl 51-61 where they couldn't tank anymore and they didn't have their great class AA's yet (special abilities) and it was just a matter of leveling and grinding....

You've managed to carefully state the obvious. Deal with it. If you want to focus on an aspect of the game which places you in direct semi-even competition with other players, those who have devoted more time to that apsect will have an advantage over you. No one really "owns" at world PvP, if you're on the side with more people you win, it's that mindless. Run your Arenas and you will earn Arena points. Run BGs and you'll earn honor. Eventually you'll be able to upgrade your gear with some nice PvP pieces, and at that point your skill will begin to have a greater impact than your gear or the numerical advantage you might enjoy in world PvP.
