Part of the reason I've decided to take a break from this game is that I'm not willing to spend another 80 hours grinding battlegrounds for the sake of achieving equal footing with my opponents in PvP. I think it's a faulty system, however I understand the reasoning behind it. Blizzard strings up carrots and manufactures desires for the sake of month-to-month subscriptions. When the hard-core kids have all caught-up with the available gear, Blizz makes up new gear and the cycle repeats.

However, I think it sucks for players who don't want to invest days and days of solid boredom (SEE: Alterac Valley) just so that they can meaningfully participate in the one aspect of the game they really enjoy (SEE: Arena).

Honestly, I'd rather that gear was eliminated and skill/spec would have a greater influence over our performance.

if gear wasnt important, the game would get boring, honestly

and months is a severe over exaggeration to getting "equal" gear

heres a quick plan for you

1: pvp daily quest every day
2: take 1 day a week, and do bgs for a few hours
3: do a heroic daily quest once a week
4: do 10 games a week on a arena team, every week

hmm lets see
6 days of 1k honor about if you win on the first go
1 day of serious grind, lets say 5k honor
approx 5 badges a week

so in just a month, just ONE

44k honor ish if you hold onto this
and 20 hero badges

thats what? s1 weapon SET, and 1 piece? 2 depending on what you buy? heroic badge piece every 2 months or so? 300 arena points a week if you do decent... so thats a piece every month and a half

and it takes you average 30 minutes a day aside from the 1 day you do serious honor grind, which is like 3 hours

it is NOT hard to get gear, its a matter of focus.... and you shouldnt be getting easy pvp epics if you dont have the focus to do at least this little

or you dont play enough to care... its a very casual friendly game, but if it becomes too casual, then hardcore players wont play anymore... and your pvp skills will man precisely Richard

and anyways, since when did you need to be decked out epix to have fun? i know people who arena for fun, and dont care about their rating.... play for fun, play for serious, or both

you seem to fall into the both area, but hey guess what? people that are part serious work for their gear.... what else would you do all day? pay 15 bucks a month just to play 40 games of arena a month?

I didn't say months. I said days. Even so - let's just say someone will drop about 80k honor for the available gear. At a very generous 1k per hour, that's 80 hours. That's 3.3 days played. Considering that I spent about 6 days /played to level the character, I'd have to spend half as much time just to get Off-set epics that will become dated with the next season. Then there's the slow accumulation of arena gear, plus farming gold for enchants. Gearing up is a pretty major investment.

So by your calculations, in one month I could buy two S1 weapons.

In another month I could buy 2/3 offsets

In another month I could by the 3/2 remaining offsets

at 300 arena points a week, that's 1200 a month, so about...what, half a piece?

In three months I could have all of my off-sets, and maybe two pieces of arena gear.

Three months to be geared halfway decent, if that.

As far as running heroics - pve is for girls.

If blizz eleminated gear, the hard core kids would still play for ranking. It's just my opinion that pvp should come down to teamwork and skill. It does, AFTER you've geared up. In the meantime, you're stuck shouting at idiots to fight on the flag in one of four (count them, four!!!) ancient battlegrounds.

Mostly this is just a "QQ I'm quitting this game" thread so maybe I should just keep my thoughts to myself.

If you don't want to chase the Carrot. Make an alt. I have 5 in the VC level range 1 almost there 1 leaving and 2 thats been out for a while and thats just on one server.

I have another server with 2 in the lvl range for VC. and one leaving BFD level range. I love group aspect of the game. Ill tell you that my main has 1 epic. count them (it isn't hard.) 1. It is a PVP non set epic.

My alts are way better geared than my main ever was until I sat at 70 for a while.

It is just up to you to weither you want to gear up your main. (which only reason I want to is so I can try Kara before the expansion) Or lvl an alt so I can have options when I see LF1M (example: DPS/CC,Tank, Healer or what ever they want) for * instance. I can say. What class do you prefer I got 10 (when Death Knight comes out =D)

Bioshock is a NASTEE but...too easy once you get the right plasmid/tonic combo. AC is awesome but again to easy (its more satisfying if you "RP" it instead of...well nvm).

GoW is still the best 360 game IMHO. Mass Effect is the most time consuming (worth it on harder levels).

GL to ya man.
