Gruul's Lair with out Hawk Eye?Follow

Okay, so today was my first time running Gruul's without Hawk Eye. With that extra 6 yards, I was able to easily able to get into range for the High King pull. But when I tried to get into range, I aggro'd and wiped the raid (D'oh!) as soon as I got into range.

Is there anyone else who doesn't have Hawk Eye, but has found a place to stand? My roll on the High King fight is to tank/DPS Kiggler in the corner that he's in. But if I can't pull him at the same exact second when our mage pulls Krosh, he starts to run all over the place.

after a few bad pulls, I started sending in my pet with Dash 3, but that's just so hard to time right, and Kiggler 1 shots my pet.

My guild does Gruul's every week, so it's really important for me to get situated for it. If there's a place I can get into range without pulling, that's awesome. If not, should I take a few points out of Mortal Shots, and put it back into Hawk eye? Right now, I'm using the Cookie-Cutter 41/20 BM raid build.

The thing about Gruul is that you should have two Hunters or more. One for tanking Kiggler (or an Elemental Shaman, or Moonkin Druid, depending on your guild of course) and the rest is on Misdirection duties. In my guild, we usually get three Hunters in the raid, or even more for Gruul. One thing is certain, the Kiggler tank should not be on Misdirection duties, ever.

I am usually the Maulgar/Olm misdirecter. I just stand at that point just straight ahead from Maulgar with the tank I'm MDing targetted. As we are ready to pull, our raidleader hits a 10 second pull countdown. I hit Misdirect at 5, the mage pulls on two, and I hit my instant shots at 0. Misdirecting AND tanking Kiggler is hard to pull off, and shouldn't even be an option. Hell, if I'm out of range, I just run in just as the mage pulls. Everyone is aggroed anyway.

Solution to your problems? Get more Hunters.

If we don't have a hunter that's not MDing then we sometimes get someone else, maybe a druid, to take Kiggler into the corner until we're ready to go for him ourselves.

Seems to work okay.

On other occasions... I can't remember. I think what North said, really. Depends on what you have in your raid.

I usually pull Kiggler in my guild too. And i don't have Hawk Eye either. :)

There is a torch thingy just by the wall in the left corner. Stand behind that and slowly move forward until you are in range. Put your pet on "stay" before you start moving in since they (the pets) have a tendency to run a little too far when you move forward step by step.

I think every hunter in our guild has accidentally pulled atleast once. :P
But it's doable, even without Hawk Eye.

We usually use two hunters for the HKM fight. I MD pull Maulgar to the tank, while the second hunter picks up Kiggler as soon as the pull starts. As I'm getting my 3 shots off on Maulgar, I'm already heading toward Kiggler. The two of us then tank Kiggler until it's time to switch targets. Works well every time, as long as a healer is on us and keeps us up.

As far as the range issue, I would suspect that if you're aggroing at a certain range, it won't matter where in the room you are located...you'll get aggro no matter what if you get into that range. Sounds like you just need to figure out a good range where you're close, but not close enough to get aggro. Be ready to run toward Kiggler and fire an Arcane Shot as soon as he's in range. As long as he doesn't run to the far side of the room, it's not too big of a deal if he's not perfectly in the corner. Just pick him up as soon as you can and then hold him.

Thanks, abusor, that answered my question =D

We usually have 3 hunters for MD duty, but last night we only had 2 hunters, and it was my job to both MD High King onto our tank AND make sure that kiggler doesn't move anywhere. It would have been much easier with Hawk eye, but I started to send my pet in on kiggler while MDing King, and trying to get back to kig before my pet died.

I think that I was doing that job pretty well, but I have NO idea why kiggler kept going towards the middle of the room. The other hunter in the group was told to do the same thing as me, but I guess he wasn't standing on the left side of the room, because as soon as I got sheeped, kig was moving around.
