Also, this is a link to the post that contains Emmerald's Feral Gear list as an attachment. It is only a beta list at the moment but is mostly correct.
If you or your friend download it, it gives a ranked gear list for each slot for tanking(high mitigation & more pre-kara level) & DPS (both burst for PvP and sustained for PvE). It is excellent to help find gear upgrades.
Also, for tanking there is RAWR - a downloadable program that helps find the best tanking upgrades based on your current gear
Both Rawr & Toskk's calculator which Brisin linked are on the Druid Wiki which has fantastic guides for all things druid and will go a long way to getting him all the info he needs.
