Hunter stats for heroicsFollow

#1 Dec 13 2007 at 2:55 PM Rating: Decent
Just curious what stats I should be shooting for before starting to run Heroics regulary. What should I aim for for minimum DPS, Hit Chance and Crit Cahnce and any other stats that may affect heroic performance.

Just for reference, these are my current stats: 284.7 DPS (buffed with Hawk), 1326 Power, 5.58% Hit Chance, 17.14% Crit Chance, 7178 HP, 5383 Mana, 4189 Armor

I'd shoot for 1500+ AP, at least 90+ To hit, a more reliable number being 120 or so. maybe more mana unless you rarely go OOM, it just looks a bit low to me. Your crit chance and dps look pretty good for Heroics so dont worry about them:)

Edit: Just though I'd say that I am baseing all of this off of my dads Hunter who just started running heroics with his guild. I on the other hand have little experience with Hunters.

Thanks for the input. I'll work on getting more AP and already got plans to complete the Fel Leather set and the Ebon Netherscale set which will greatly increase my Hit Rating as well as boost my mana pool. Also, most of my gear isn't enchanted yet as many pieces still need to be upgraded before entering heroics.

Seems by doing all of that you should be perfect to start doing heroics!

You should be fine.

If you can get into Kara, namely your guild runs it or you have plans on getting into raid with friends, then I wouldn't really bother. You can get enough gear from normal 70 instances to get into Kara fine, and badges come pretty quickly in there. Only reason I've ever really run heroics was to help gear up friends/guildies and to do the daily. <shrug>

Heroic gear sucks. The experience running heroics is good though. You learn that messing up will wipe the group thus you become a better player preparing you for the raids. Most of the Heroic gear can be replaced by better gear in Kara so farming the heroics for a certain item can be very time and fund consuming.

If you don't have an outlet to regularly raid Kara and Heroics are your only chance at badges and epic gear then getting your CC, shot rotation, and boss knowledge is key. I have seen very badly geared hunters (alts) with great game knowledge present themselves very very well in both Kara and Heroics so 'minimum criteria for stats' shouldn't be your red or green light to go.

Are you comfy in 5-mans? Do you wipe your group a lot? Can you control your target for at least 3 traps in a row? If the answer is yes, no, and yes then you are good to go. ***** the stats.

Without seeing you gear, since you didn't link your armory...I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're undergeared for heroics. The stats you listed look low and look like you won't really be pulling your weight.

As someone else said, I'd suggest running some regular 70s instances for some gear until you get you stats boosted up a little higher. Check Aethien's sticky for what to shoot for.

Here is my armory link for review. I'm upgraded a couple pieces to my epic set, but need a couple more nethers to finish the last piece. Thats why my stats are different than the original post. I ran one heroic last week before I was better geared and the group was great and I got a nether from that trip to build the belt.

You have a few pieces that should be replaced, like your helm, neck and the Band of the Victor. They're ALL easily replaced from questing. Take a look at the Pre-Raid gear list that's stickied at the top. You're also missing a lot of enchants. Your boots, your back, and your weapons don't have any enchants. You'd also get a lot more out of +6 stats to your chestpiece. If you're waiting to replace them, just take into consideration how long it might take, and enchant accordingly.

A lot of people will tell you that Heroics can be just as hard, if not harder than Kara- especially if you do PUGs. Don't go into Heroics thinking that you won't notice the change in difficulty. I've seen people get turned down because of their gear, and I've also seen people in epics get kicked out of a heroic group because they weren't performing. BM isn't too gear-dependant, but having sub-par gear means you have to know you're doing to pull your weight.

Sorry this really doesn't have anything to do with the thread, but I was wondering if someone could tell me how to link things. (i.e. build, armory page, etc.)

eh, you're fine for heroics, just make sure your party knows what they're doing. You probably don't want to go to SH/ARC/SLAB yet, but you'll be fine for most of the others. This assumes of course that you know what you're doing. Can you maintain over 400 dps in an instance?
