Ghost Wolf + Area + Resto = FTW???Follow

#1 Dec 13 2007 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
I have been wondering if anyone has had any positive experiences in using Imp Ghost Wolf in the arenas?

I've read the arguments about the spell being dispellable, but I have used regular Ghost Wolf to gain early position in arenas. I often run past the other team, drop Grounding and Earthbind, then run off to gain a better position for healing/chain lightning.

I am currently 0/3/58 and am trying to decide if pulling 4 more talent points from Reto for Imp Ghost Wolf could help me gain some kind of advantage against Rogues/Warriors and all that nasty CC out there.

Thoughts?

2 reasons...

1> A Drenai on an Elephant is kind of a big target and tends to draw a lot of attention.

2> You can not cast while mounted. Ghost Wolf gives you the benefit of begining a cast/dropping a totem while shape shifted. Yes, this breaks the spell but it still avoids being stun locked on a mount (which has happened) and being unable to dismount and cast.

Well I don't see why you would even need the Imp Ghost Wolf talent, as you could just turn into a ghost wolf during the preparation phase.

casting dismounts you automatically too.

Well beyond just the prep phase...has anyone used the Imp Ghost Wolf to evade anyone? I'm really just looking for some kind of advantage to getting away from CC.

Ghost Wolf is just for running away, it doesn't break CC like druid shifts do.

ghost wolf is only good for BGs where you're in a fight you wont win. So you GW, run to your friends so they can help you win the battle... also for running the flag in WSG.

edit : For typos.

What a lot of people don't realize is, that by BEING in GW form to begin with, you prevent several forms of CC being used against you. Sure you can't break CC, but that is what your PVP trinket is for. Whenever you're on defense guarding with not a lot of support, shift to Ghost Wolf, which makes you immune to Sap, Repentence, Mind Control and Seduction, at the expense of making you vulnerable to only Fear Beast and Hibernate. Obviously the biggest benefit is preventing a Sap from a stealthed Rogue, allowing you to use your trinket to pull out of a Cheap Shot or Blind.

So if you see a Hunter, try to get in close and shift out with a Frost Shock before he uses Fear Beast, and and with Druids just shift out early enough that you don't get hit with Hibernate. I don't PVP a ton, but it's been rare that I've had any Beast CC spells used on me while I was in Ghost Wolf... most people just don't think to.

You can frustrate a Rogue to no end jumping around in different directions in Ghost Wolf... I've found it pretty amusing.

A lot of people don't have Hibernate or Scare Beast on their PvP bars.

The major pluses from Ghost Wolf are not the speed increase, the major pluses are the immunities to certain forms of CC. Rendering yourself immune to Sap is a huge plus. Plus, it's really easy to shift out of Ghost Wolf before getting hit by Hibernate or Scare Beast.

Just learn to deal that you're not getting away. If you wanna get away, reroll a druid =)
