Too bad Resto, which is at the moment our most and arguably only effective PvP spec, is getting nerfed for PvP next patch. Earth Shield is getting its mana cost reduced but a 30-second cooldown is being added. Which, in the dispell-fest that is arena PvP, will = Resto Shaman down even faster than before.
Oh well. There's always PvE. We'll still rock there.

what is blizzards problem... this nerf is completely uncalled for. I think that if any class should be nerfed... its warlocks and howling terror and fear etc... which the spell should be broken or have a chance of breaking on damage...

Sometimes I wish I played more PVP so I could really comment on PVP balance and my suspicion that Blizzard has totally clueless people in charge of balance by nerfing a spec with fairly common counters (dispel) while letting Warlocks be as amazing as they are. But I don't PVP enough, so I'll keep quiet. :X

Are you positive about this? Before it wasn't even on the patch notes page, and now it is. I pray to all that is good and holy that you're right, but I'll reserve my joy until 2.3.2 safely passes.

That's pretty funny. "The dispel issue." What "issue" is there? It's a 41-point talent, basically the equivalent of a Discipline Priest's Pain Suppression only it heals damage periodically instead of reducing damage which is practically accomplishing the exact same thing with a different mechanic. Just give the damn thing a % dispell resistance. Done. Finished. No reason this couldn't/shouldn't be done by the time 2.3.2 releases.
Because Pain Suppression is on a cooldown, with a higher mana-cost IIRC. And it's only dispel resistance, not immunity.
Even if Earthshield was pushed to the point of being immune to dispel effects, I still don't believe it will fix glaring problems Resto Shamans face in Arena + BG PVP. Namely, having to stand still to cast heals and no defensive dispel/cleanse. Glaringly obvious problems with root and CC effects, and our terrible mana efficiency on quick heals.

It's also unaffected by Mortal Strike. But that's really neither here nor there. The spells really aren't that similiar, I was just trying to draw on the closest example I could.

I know. Which is why I said Earth Shield needs resistance. I never said anything about immunity. Besides, Priests have plenty of other tools available to them. And, as you go on to say...

Exactly. Right now Earth Shield is more or less a Resto Shaman's only major survival tool. For how completely reliant on it they are, it should be better than good. It should be phenominal. Of course, I would prefer they just fix the class as a whole and give us the tools we so desperately need, but... Blizzard doesn't seem too keen on that.
