I'm leveling a warrior for PvP, and only PvP since I already raid on my rogue. After reading through the stickies and talking to some guildmates, the general consensus is that DW Fury is the way to go for leveling. What are your thoughts on this? Any advice for where I should spend my talent points past the first two tiers (since Cruelty and Unbridled Wrath are obvious choices)?

Also, what kind of weapons should I be looking for? From what I can tell, a faster mainhand weapon will yield more DPS based on Heroic Strike, but I'm not quite sure how it scales with Enrage and Flurry.

Thanks in advance.

Go two handed fury until you get in the 50's and get access to some +hit gear. Before then you will hinder your self. In outlands however where hit is abundant, yes DW fury is the fastest grinding spec.

When you get to where you can start to DW you will want a slow main hand for higher HS cleave and WW dmg, and a fast off hand for more consistant rage generation. Later on once you have better gear you can go slow slow if you want.

Anyways back to leveling. Pick up imp. slam asap and get a swing timer. Zip has a guide in the sticky about proper use of slam. Here is a build for when you can spec into it. (disclaimer unbridaled wrath is crap for a two handed build and really not ground breaking for DW either)

As far as gear go for "of the bear" gear and get a nice big slow two-hander, anything over 3.5 seconds is fine. There used to be a guide a few pages back about progession of blue two handers for warriors, couldn't find it though. You have premium so you can probably look it up that way. Title was something to the effect of "weapon progression for arms" but I can't remember exactly.

Out of curiosity, would it be worth it to sink 10 points into Arms for Imp TClap and Imp Charge? Those just seem like awesome abilities for grinding.

Imp TC is one of the absolute best talents in all of the warrior trees. I've never had a build without it since they changed it to decrease attack speed by an additional 10%.

For grinding I would definitely encourage imp TC with 5 points in deflection for your first teir. It will keep you from having to eat as much, which I'm sad to say you will do alot as a warrior leveling up (bandaging also).

I'm personnaly not a huge fan of imp charge. But I do see it's advantages. I just find that there are other talents that are more useful.

I always thought slam was only useful for a 2hander? So when u go to dw slam isnt a viable option anymore.
Precisely because the best fury (dual wield) talents are not like --> damage = weap dmg + X but --> AP/100 * X.
The idea is that a big 2hander has a higher topdmg and thus mortal strike / slam are the way to go. For a (faster) 1hander u will never use slam because it will lower your dps because of the lower topdmg your 1h has.

It is...which is precisely what Jimp was talking about. When he was talking about slam, he was discussing a 2H fury build, not a DW fury one. 2H fury is focused around flurry and enrage with imp. slam used to supplement damage in place of MS. It's actually an amazing build, and what I used to level my warrior from 1-60 recently, since my old one got hacked.

Indeed. Slam when used properly is better dpr (damage per rage) than MS. Later on when you have better gear, namely higher attack power, slam will outpace MS in pure dmg done as well since slam isn't normalized like MS is.

Got to warn you though demea if your raising a warrior strictly to pvp with don't get discouraged when you hit 70 and suck out right. It takes lots of gear and alot more skill that what you probably think. It's not all auto swing and lol.

When you get there though we'll be here to help you out with tips and tricks of the trade.

to second what jim says, youre going to suck when you hit 70. horribly. even with 75k honor banked and ready to pick up a few pieces of S1 gear, youll suck. you can mitigate the suckness by finding a good healer (or two, or three) and protecting them like a father protects his daughters virginity, but until you close that gear gap expect any solo situation to be an exercise in patience. group stuff will be a little better, but youll have to lean on your healers a lot (in other words, go in with 2-4 at your back instead of 1-2).

oh, also, since this a leveling thread of sorts, ill add my bit. theres a nice progression of 2h axes and polearms you can use, starting from level 29.

corpsemaker (drop in RFK, 29)
whirlwind axe (quested as early as 30)
executioners cleaver (BoE blue at 43, check AH)
ice barbed spear (win an AV, 51)
vazrudens polearm from ramps, or warsong howling axe from blood furnace (60 and 61 respectively i believe)
terokk's quill (quested, sethekk halls as early as 65)
crow wing reaper (dropped, last boss sethekke halls, 68)
plasma rat's hyper scythe (dropped, mechanolord capacitus, mechanar)
