Making Changes in my playstyleFollow

#1 Dec 12 2007 at 6:05 AM Rating: Good
I leveled my rogue as an assassin and I really enjoyed it, up until about a week or two ago. I have done a sudden 180 from seeing her poisons and her backstab and mutilate as part of who she is in an rp kind of way to thinking, "meh, I'm a little bored with this...gonna try out something new".

I respecced to a combat daggers build. I kind of wanted to do fist weapons, but decided that would be a foolish choice at endgame especially considering I haven't even got one sitting and waiting. I looked em up and I hated the look of several of them. I hated the fact that many of them said 'unique'. Several of the pics I saw showed 2 very different looks on each hand so I concluded that they are definitely not coming in pairs, as I would have wanted them to be. In the end, I was very much reminded of reading, probably here in the rogue forum, that Blizzard "needs to show the fist weapons a little love." So I hung on to daggers as my one thing from my past image of who my character is (and was gonna be viable hopefully).

I also spent some time yesterday looking at shadowpanther and deciding on some gear to go after. By the end of the night I had gotten a new necklace and a new "poncho" for my back slot.

That was fun jotting down my melee and defense numbers and then comparing when I equipped my necklace and again when I equipped my poncho and finally when I respecced. I think things are only gonna get better.

Don't be scared to try out the Season 1 arena fist weapons. I have them and REALLY love them a lot. Fists have the most damage output out of all the rogue weapons out there and they really look badass.

s1 fists have the most broad dmg range, both min and max... but fist spec itself is 2nd of the 3 non-daggers in terms of dps

but its also (imo) better for pvp then swords, hence i always say

maces: pvp
fists: hybrid
swords: pve

You're a ******* moron. Fists are the worst rogue spec.

Combat daggers isn't a good spec unless you do zero pvp. Go back to mutilate if you want to use daggers, otherwise lose them for swords or maces.

Btw, I don't give a **** about RP, so if you want that taken into a account, find someone that cares about it.

theo explain how fists is so apparently clear-cut to be the worst spec again?

its not the best in either wrold but i think its ranked 2nd for pve or pvp, making it a nice middle of the road

Not even close to second for pvp, and it's mediocre for pve. Swords are better for both because they're not effected by resilience as much.

Mutilate doesn't do as well in pve, but imo it does better in pvp if you're not shs or harp.

okay, so lemme get this straight

5% crit built into gear, you gem full ap.. not even agi just full ap, and in pve the extra 5% crit in a stat you8 didnt improve at all

a stat that has good gains when your low on it but worse as you go up

is MEDIOCRE?? yes we all know the extra swing is better, only because the extra swing can crit... its not a huge difference, but it is one

but ya... its hella better then maces

and i know personally i rather have the crit that applies to evis, the same crit that allows my crit rate to be decent (yes i know... resilience kills crits, but crit is STILL more damage then non-crit) and critting that evis more often is better then a chain swing

preference at best, but the fist weapons also have a broader weapon range... more of a spike damage

its a lot more capable then you give it credit, and just mentioning its a lil more affected by resilience isnt explaining anything

pvp is preference, but pve i wanna see numbers to see how mediocre it really is compared to swords

ill take that back wheni see some good proof ;)

That 5% crit could be 5% chance for an extra swing in pve or 6% chance to stun in pvp.

You're speccing mediocre, basically.

edit: and swords are way better in pvp, you can't argue against that.

i dont think swords are better for pvp at all honestly

pve: swords > fist > mace
pvp: mace > fist > swords

makes fist middle of both worlds imo

2v2 now at 1632 thank you very much

and last time i checked, pvp isnt only swords, and having fist weapons instead of swords has never lost you a fight

its maces or specs involving extra dps

and its not like your ratings are so high n mighty theo... you were more fun at flaming when your points made a lot of sense, instead of slim to none =\

More like I was more fun when I wasn't flaming you, right?

My 2v2 just started today and we've only lost because of my partner dcing.

1632 is nothing, tbh. I was hovering around 1800 last season with crap gear and mut spec.

The reason fists suck in pvp should be pretty obvious: resilience. Swords give you an extra DPS boost from the proc, where fists don't. Your 5% extra damage is severely nerfed by the one most common stat in pvp: resilience.

That's why I'm saying you're a moron, and that's why you really don't have any idea what you're talking about when it comes to pvp.

resil hurts crit and how effective it is, but i rather crit my evis or DT or whatever more often... then proc a sword swing thats only what? 600 non crit?

pre-nerf maybe id agree, but crit... while less useful due to resilience... is more useful due to flexibility

not that it matters atm either way, since im shadowstep lol

and again, to say, pvp =/= arena

rogue were not made with teammates in mind, you wanna say arena sure ill go with that... but pvp is PVP, and 1v1 a crit evis is killer for finisher.... and i want a 35% of that tyvm

and i dont mind you flaming me, you actually know what your talking about, just that was one of your weaker ones
