at this moment I'm lvl41 retribution paladin playing BloodElf. All instances I was in (quite alot) I did as healer and it was quite fine, even silliest of groups (4 hunters, 2 of them go melee) were alive and happy.

I really tired of warrior kids smartasses asking me "WHY U HELER BUT NO HOLY" keep in mind that 100% of them are arms or fury "tanks"

I just need a suggestion on wich role to pretend for instance runs, as if I go as DPS wich is my real spec/gear group will fall apart long before finding healer or tank.
I can afford any gear (as my other characters are deep in end/game raiding) but I like retribution as it suits me for levelling and it's easy to solo mob way higher than me.

Any advice wich werewolf to be, healer or tank for azeroth instances?

P.S. Look in my armory profile and tell if I misunderstood something in retri spec/itemization.

Thank you.

Take whatever role you want. You can be a healer, tank, or DPS.

That being said, you are mostly geared for DPS, and mentioned you like Ret. So try putting a group together where you can DPS (i.e. find another tank and healer).

It sounds like your biggest issue is putting a group together. Try using the /who tab. It gives you a list of all people in any region, and lists them by level and class. You can usually put together a group in under 15 mins. Focus on finding a tank and healer first. Once you have them, it is REALLY EASY to fill the DPS spots.

As a Pally, people will generally expect you to be a healer or tank. People don't usually think DPS when thinking of a Pally. This may cause some problems when you try to fill a DPS role in a group. To remedy that, put a group together yourself. It will be much easier.

The other option is to join a good guild.

Tell them "I can heal" (or "I can tank") and then keep doing what you've been doing. In an Azeroth instance, an offspec pally in hand is much better than waiting in LFG for 5 minutes.

At your level, the specialization is starting to set in (e.g., a holy pally is becoming very mana efficient) but any performance difference shouldn't be readily apparent to the kids in your group. A lvl 41 holy pally would have 12% more healing, better crit/guaranteed crit, better mp5, a slightly larger mana pool, and holy shock for insta-heals. In other words, when instancing you're going to have to drink a bit more often and pop a mana pot once in a while.

I've had the opposite experience as you: despite being holy, I was often expected to tank most Azeroth instances by virtue of being the only mail/plate wearer in the group. Sunken Temple was the last one I really succeeded at tanking at the appropriate level.

Fwiw, I truly hate that people can now inspect your talent allocation.

Ret pally can bring some good DPS to a group and some GREAT utility and Offtanking, but your problem is why I specced out to Protection for a while. People just don't get it sometimes.

Ret can tank fine with a 2hander, they just take a good bit more damage. Ret can heal fine, they just don't get as much healing efficiency. It isn't your intended role but just like sometimes a Feral druid will come out as a Healer at this level range, you are certainly capable of pulling it off.

I say take YJMark's advice and try to set up your own groups. In the LFG tool there is a "Notes" bar which other people will see when they are looking for more - inside the notes put "Retribution Spec - DPS" and most people will understand what that means at least somewhat.

That being said, not being Holy doesn't really detract that much from your ability to heal at this level. The main problem is Int since after a certain point for solo play Int is pointless at this level when playing Ret because you get mana back so quickly.

For healing, don't change your spec one bit. Just bring a few key pieces of INT gear to boost your mana, and any Mp5/+Spell/+Heal you can get won't hurt either. Keep it in a bank or in an extra bag and put it on when you're expected to heal. Remember, there are some GREAT Mail/Leather drops for healers at around this level, so if one drops explain your situation and roll for it!

Like others have said, take which role you want though it's going to be hard to "fool" people that you're specced for something now with the new inspection.

THat said, if you don't really care about being DPS in an instance then I think your option is healing right now. Yes paladins can do both roles even if not specced for it in Azeroth, but you're getting to the point now where having no points in prot is going to make more of an impact (or less of one) than having no points in holy. Or to be more clear - paladins can innately heal better than they can tank.

From the number posted here re healing you don't really lose a *whole* lot but as a tank you do lose out on things like BoSanc and Holy Shield for threat gen. If you want to be able to effectively do either in instances at least spec deep enough into Prot for imp RF - though that first tier of that tree is an absolute DOG so maybe just stick with healing.
