Spell hit gearFollow

#1 Dec 12 2007 at 2:19 AM Rating: Default
so i just hit 70 a day or so ago. i already had my frozen shadow weave set waiting for me and shorty after i picked up the crystaline bracers

My question is.. should i continue on my gear quest to get the top gear according to the gear guide here. or should i focus on some items at or near the bottom of the list to gain hit rating?

also what should me spell damage be at this point?

here is my link: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Rexxar&n=Koots

any tips would be awsome

Well, if you're following the gear list, does that mean you are going to get the Spellstrike pieces made? I advise it if you really need spell hit (and just because they're great pieces as well) because getting both nets you 38 spell hit I think off the top of my head.

From there, I would say pick up whatever pieces give you the most spell hit while giving up the least +dmg when compared to other things. I don't have time right now to look up specific examples, but you want to try to get as close to 76 spell hit as you can while not gimping your shadow dmg in the process.

Spellstrike set + helm enchant is 42. Those last spots can be filled up with such things (numbers off the top of my head, might be a bit off) as the cape from Sethekk (12), rings from CE exalted (21) or Spirit Shards (11), Season 2 mace/dagger (15), and Season 3 mace/dagger (17), and Belt of Blasting (which I would highly recommend buying if you can afford it).

Keep in mind, Tehnomage, that gearing is different for destro locks and spriests. We could care less about crit, for the most part, since in incredibly crit-friendly situations +dmg is still more than 5 times better (and more realistically 8 times better). +Hit is more important for destro locks than us, and in addition you can "trade off" +dmg for crit, we can't.

never said otherwise.. i know that.. but what i recommended (oblivion gloves and the offhand from BM) have no crit :P (i try to think from a SP point of view when i play my SP)... not to mention that i completely forgot about the 22 spelldmg & 14 spellhit heaf enchant. Adding that to the number i had earlyer (47) u get a wooping 61 out of 76.

the comment about my destro lock was only to show that it was way easyer to get the +hit cap on a shadowpriest...
